I was just thinking about this as I sometimes scroll through eBay and think who bought this S….te ! I include myself in that, back in the 70’s early 80’s. Thankfully since then I’ve bought wisely through knowledge mainly to sell on. But back then I see things on eBay that I bought and thought at the time I was the bees knees.EG… 1979 tour satin jacket. I absolutely loved it at the time. Even going out on Friday evenings round town in it. Can you imagine walking round in something like that now 😂 I shudder to think. Fair play to Quo’s marketing team over the years. We all bought into the brand. They are at it even now when I see these denim clad books and stuff retailing into 3 figures. It’s frightening what someone can now spend on bands. We are now getting T shirts printed from 50 year old tours. Where does it end. Mind you I couldn’t resist the ‘ Blue for you 76 tour T-shirt. At least it’s wearable in a modern colour with just the band logo. See i’m still dipping my big toe in the water 😂

Not sure, I have seen Quo around 130 times from 1978 until 2014. I guess with tickets, travel, occasional merchandise, hotel stays, vinyls and CDs,food and drink, it would be around the £5000 mark. Loved every minute!

Me, Mrs Mortified and sis have talked about this quite often. Me and sis followed the band from the 70's and Mrs Mortified joined in from 2006. Other Mrs Mortifieds also participated up to that point. The amount spent on Quo related stuff is pretty much incalculable. Bearing in mind we've seen them all over Europe and even in Australia. The hotels and travel alone must run to 5 figures. Add the music itself and the merch and it has to be over £100k. And that's a conservative estimate. It's sounds massive, and it is, but if you divide that figure by 50 years (its 50 years this month since I first saw the band) it's an average of £2k per year. In 1973, that was huge. Less than a year's wages (I was at school ) but we only really started to travel to see the band from 2000. I don't want to delve any deeper into it than that because it'll scare me!

The thing is many football fans for years follow their club all over the country, europe and world to see them play, no one questions them (unless they support S*uthampt*n!) They would have spent much more than us, so I am not going to beat myself up over it. The wife might though!

1. Enough that I could be unemployed for a year or 2.
2. Quo's marketing has not been great. Its been terrible. For such a great band with a huge legacy, it's cack.

I was going to say over the last decade it would have been £0.00 but I think i may be lying, was the John Eden remix of RAOW released after the reunions?
Spent a bit more on John version of Quo though.

From my first Quo gig in 1972 through to 2015, then 4 Quo conventions and a dozen times watching John Coghlans Quo, I would say quite a lot, but as it's been my musical staple of life, I would say the 50 year journey has been priceless.
