I remember the rumour going round about the first track played - it was an odd choice (trying to remember) but of course turned out to be false. I think it was Margurita Time, as Alan wanted it in the set!! That would have been the ultimate troll by the band, open with the first few bars of MT!

Jay was there and didn’t he jokingly say Mean Girl was being played? There were all sorts of rumours flying around including Mad About The Boy being rehearsed. Which it might well have been if the original idea was to mirror (roughly) the Blue For You tour. As it was, it was a good set, if not an outstanding one.

I was on the train refreshing for updates of the forum! Fun times.

I'm sure I said they could stretch the intro out a bit and make it quite dramatic.. ..in all honesty, I think I was just trying to convince myself that a weird and slightly disappointing opener was NOT going to ruin my experience 😂😂 That opening night.. I don't think I've ever been glued to a computer screen to that extreme before or since... Or ever likely to be again! Great times 😂

Approaching the first Hammersmith night I avoided set spoilers or you tube downloads. Best Quo gig? Since 1979 it was. The big deal for me was seeing JC again.

I don't know why they didn't kick off with the iconic, boot-stamping opening bars the way they used to play it back in the day. Its the best opening to a gig there's ever been. By anyone.

And 10 years ago this happened: the best day of my life! Got my Hello! vinyl signed with silver edding by the FF, got to talk to them, tell them how much they and their music mean to me, thanked them for it, shook their hand twice and got a photo taken with them, me in the middle. Francis to my right, Rick to my left with his hand on my shoulder, John and Alan on the side.
This very day in Glasgow will never be bettered, this I will take to my grave - and in case of the vinyl and the photo I mean it literally!

One of my biggest regrets is not going to that first one in Manchester I remember how buzzing we were on the message board waiting for posts! The excitement was immense! Viv, to be honest, I also would have liked to have been at that gig. Can you imagine seeing all four of them standing there in the Hello pose, then not knowing what the setlist would be? I was away on holiday in Egypt at the time. I was not going to look at anything regarding that gig on t'net until after I saw them at the Hammy, but of course I recieved text messages from people telling me the songs played etc. So my cold turkey ended and like any addict when I returned home, I was straight on Youtube and on the old (brilliant) official messageboard getting my fix!

To be honest, although excited, I wasn’t prepared for just how AMAZING it was going to be! I had tickets for Hammersmith and was content to wait for that! However after the tour started I realised my mistake! Missing out on Manchester and some of the other gigs, and Stated in the Distillers that first year made me determined to do as many as I could the following year! Thank goodness they did that follow up tour, I will always be grateful for that! Good times and good memories! I’ve met so many good friends through the Quo family! I remember chatting with you and your brother outside the chippy at Hammersmith in 2014! 🙂

I remember someone posted the last minute of BBJ from the first gig. Wasn't the best clip. I remember Teleboogie and Fisherman absolutely tearing them apart. "See we told you it would be shit"
I couldn't go see another Quo again after witnessing the FF and I mean zero disrespect to any other line up when I say that. This is coming from a guy with no nostalgia buzz. It was just that sound and that magic. It felt right!
