I think I'm right in saying that both Bob Young and Jackie Lynton used to write for Jim Davidson.

Just in case anyone hadn't heard about it...
In the 1980s the inexplicably popular Davidson had a TV sitcom entitled 'Up The Elephant And Round The Castle'. He'd proved to be horribly unpleasant and egotistical, treating the TV crew with a barely concealed contempt.
And then one day they saw an opportunity for revenge...
One episode's script called for Davidson's character to be mugged in the street. The crew got together and had a whip-round, then approached the struggling young actor who'd been hired to play the mugger.
They offered him a not inconsiderable sum of money if he agreed that, instead of pulling a punch as demanded, he would instead punch Davidson full in the face.
Struggling young actors with bills to pay will take the highest offer, and so when the punch was filmed he connected good and proper. Davidson was incandescent.
"I'LL MAKE SURE YOU NEVER WORK IN THIS BUSINESS AGAIN!!!"
Oddly enough, David Thewlis hasn't lost much sleep since.
True story.

I've never seen that before either. Very strange. Very 80's light entertainment I suppose. I was never a Jim Davidson fan which probably explains why I missed it.
But quite a collection of musicians!

Although I had to look up David Thewlis because I had never heard of him! Not watching enough telly, obviously.
