Why was the Drei Weisse Birrrken single not included as a bonus on the deluxe Ain't Complaining? Surely for completists it should've been added?

The video of them trying to cover up their embarrassment by playing the jolly boys knock about lads on German tv is about as low as they got imo

They recorded with Stephan Remmler at RAK Studios during Rick’s wedding in July 1988. That’s the reason why Rick wasn’t involved. I think they did Running all over the World a few days before. So it was after the Ain’t Complaining sessions.

Why did Rick appear on a TV show if he didn't play on it? It certainly sounds like his rhythm guitar on it.

I think Status Quo looked more credible back in their Pictures of Matchstick Men days than this. I mean, seriously, what the F were they thinking??? A disgrace.

The German ZDF TV show “Na Siehste” with Stephan Remmler featuring Status Quo was in late February 1989 and Quo needed the promo after the disappointed Ain’t Complaining Tour. The Single was released in November 1988 but Quo wasn’t available because of touring commitments until Christmas and recording in Nassau in early January and February 1989.

I don't think there was anything disappointing about the Ain't Complaining tour. In fact, the gigs I was at were blinding. Although they were in the summer, not the winter as became the norm. But the album and the performance of 3 of the 4 singles released that year were fairly disappointing. By Quo's recent standards anyway. But by November 1988, when this apparently came out, Quo were riding on the Burning Bridges wave. By the way, that video is no worse than some of the light entertainment nonsense the band appeared on in the UK. And had been doing for a large part of the decade. But, I agree, that's hardly any recommendation

Lots of german venues were poorly attended and the album didn’t chart well after the huge Army success…

I'd have to check the initial tracklists I have from that set of deluxes, as I've not a clue off the top of my head... frozenhero do you remember at all I do. I deliberately left it off There are numerous reasons. One is that Quo were more functioning as Stephan Remmler's backing band in this instance. Another is that the track would have limited appeal for non-German audiences. Yet another is that completeness would have meant including all three mixes of it. And finally you'd likely have to get involved with Remmler's management to clear the release and I don't think I wanted to introduce that additional possible problem into what were my first ideas for the series. So, yeah, sorry but also not. I don't really think it would've fit the scope of the Ain't Complaining reissue all that well.

Awful and embarrassing
But not Quo, just a collab with one or two members. If those things belong on reissues, the so does Francis doing down down with hayseed dixie and a host of other one offs
