Right...I honestly love Jeff but, what happened during the intro? That was ridiculous

Saw them 4 shows on that tour - jeez man how fast is everything played, when yer there you dont realise but urrgh its just too fast, back in those days we were like - few beers watch Quo go mad for an hour n a half listening back it wasnt the best i was probably 60-70 shows in by then & it was a night out with a few beers, it was Quo so we went cos its what we`d always done, the live shows in the `90`s were good from what i remember people still jumped around at the front but then it changed - `can you sit down please my mam cant see` - it was never the same, - they still play too fast to this day imo

I'm just gobsmacked at that tempo when Jeff comes in. It almost feels like Rick is purposely playing slow before he comes in. I never got the whole tempo argument with Jeff between 86 and 1990. Just felt energetic... After that, it's very obvious

Keyboards quite high in the mix in this one, but it's still good. And good to hear these songs that disappeared without a trace after the tour. To be fair to the band, apart from Restless, they played pretty much the only tracks on the album worth doing live π

Well, the Thirsty Work deluxe has come and gone. What are they going for, the 30th anniversary? The celebrations would be a bit muted But it would be good to get things like that out there. The Live Here Now recordings, whilst always welcome, did become seriously repetitive.

What are they going for, the 30th anniversary? The celebrations would be a bit muted But it would be good to get things like that out there. The Live Here Now recordings, whilst always welcome, did become seriously repetitive. Non of the deluxe editions ever had a budget to cover the costs of remixing anything - only enough to cover the costs of tape transfers. They don't have many analogue machines in-house, from what I gather, these days so most of the transfers have to be outsourced. Outtakes / Alt Takes etc could easily be used, as the majority of those are on 1/4" tapes. Had someone from the band actually been involved with the deluxe releases, then the likes of those could have been included. Perfect Remedy would have included a fully unreleased show had I been involved from the start, but they turned it down as the project was already well into development and they didn't want to spend more money on another lot of audio being remastered, so they went with the "Rocking All Over The Years - Greatest Hits Live" audio. I think they're intending on doing something like what Universal / KISS are doing - "Off The Soundboard" releases. We shall see Edit: It's also the reason why a load of demos were dropped from Heavy Traffic. The money wasn't there to license them from Duroc

The money wasn't there to license them from Duroc You do give the impression that things are done on the cheap We're continually being told how successful the band have been (so many million units of this or that, so many appearances on TOTP blah, blah, blah) but the budget never seems to be there to do quite a lot of, shall we say, interesting things. It always seems to be geared towards the commonest (lowest?) possible denominator. I think we can appreciate that remastered recordings and deluxe editions with live extras or demos are specialist stuff and probably don't make money but surely that must apply to all artists of any longevity? Many of whom were considerably less successful than Quo but seem to be able to churn out mountains of live/unreleased stuff at will. Just musing and its certainly not a pop at you, mate. You and others do sterling work π

It always seems to be geared towards the commonest (lowest?) possible denominator. From what I know,it's Universal doing it cheap, no matter what band is. Maybe for the Black Sabbath reissues they spend a little bit more because two of the "super deluxes" albums contained remixes, but there were 4 or 5 "super deluxes" that were just bootlegs as extras. Even lossy versions were used. Another band for example, the lastest reissues from the Sex Pistols were bootlegs that were floating around since before the album came out, and for that band, the budget can't be an issue, it would sell both sides of the atlantic. But a cheap package and lossy sources were used...

That's excellent and would work just as well in the set now. Liked that π
