Given that this isn't 2002, I am genuinely surprised that a song as apparently contentious as The Oriental should be these days remains a staple in the set. That's notwithstanding how fed up we all are with it. I'm equally surprised they haven't been openly criticised for it. As for the rest of the set, the inclusion of In My Chair pleases me greatly. I don't recall Again And Again closing a medley before so it will be interesting to hear how they finish it. And how much of Mystery Song will be played given its listing in the set? Bl00dy hell, I'm dissecting it already. Just go along and enjoy yourself, for goodness sake as soon as the lead break for ms approaches that's it end of song either rossi cudnt be arsed or he can't play it anymore the lead that is

That's notwithstanding how fed up we all are with it. I'm equally surprised they haven't been openly criticised for it. I know what you mean, but maybe it's either beyond critique, or there's just not many column inches you can give any intelligent debate about it to - too easy a target?
I can sort of see why they persist playing it live - it's something a wee bit different for them, has a different groove, and of course Rhino's bits in the middle where the strobes go on (do they still?) offers up something different again.
I can see the lyrics are massively tongue in cheek, but it's just that it's a case of the lyricist getting bogged down with EVERYTHING having to rhyme, and it becomes more about that than any meaning or story - it brings the whole thing down. Why not take a risk and not have every line rhyme with the last?
Mia North Korea come over Land Rover sushi suits me shower hour
oriental special get some another one oriental very gentle a cousin a dozen
Mae Wong Hong Kong a raver eastern flavour I love you I'd love to Texas Lexus
spicy nicely
oriental mental gotta get one and another one oriental on a rental a Russian no discussion
I mean, Jeeeeesus!! Just gets a bit retarded. Granted there is a few lines in the middle eight that don't follow the same pattern.
Not that i could do any better!
Yes I agree with you about all those rhyming words. They must’ve written those lyrics in 5 minutes. I suppose having that song in the set these days may be justified as being pro Ukraine even… either way it’s right in the middle of the set which is perfect for a toilet break.

No surprise to me that 'Backing Off' has been dropped. Cut me Slack and Liberty Lane have had a head start over that track and some acceptance now.
Personally, thought that Backing Off had a somewhat heavy riff live on stage and had a groove on when I saw them playing it at Oxford. Plenty of bemused faces though.
The shuffles In My Chair and Don't Waste My Time are always welcome for me, even though they have been around since the 1870s.

Interesting to see them add Twenty Wild Horses and alternate a few other songs but how long before they go into auto pilot and go back to the standard setlist for the tour, as sadly they go into auto pilot with set and it rarely changes with a unique setlist. I mean Matt quit because he got bored shitless with the sets and other reasons but how can Rhino, Andy, Leon & Ritchie not got bored playing the same songs 24/7 without getting bored and fed up and wanting changes Rhino has played the same set pretty much since 1986. Rhino, Andy & Francis are just going thru the motions with each song as they know them inside out & can play them in their sleep.

Rollin' Home now includes the middle break down section - and from the audio I've heard, In My Chair is sounding quite heavy

Too much stopping and starting for a band that likes the setlist to "flow"

Why do they persist in playing the Boreiental ?? Cheers They do this to specifically annoy you. And you're not going to believe this but because of a strike by London Underground workers I knew my bus journey home from West London to South London would be interminable. With this in mind I decided to bite the accordion and download Aquostic onto my phone and finally give it a go. I can't put into the words what I heard, I actually drew attention to myself by laughing loudly when the accordion came in on Paper Plane, it's fcukin awful.

This board is about mass debate with board members mass debating!

Railie, whatever you think about Aquostic 1, it is epic compared to Aquostic 2. I listened to it once and I am still traumatised by the nightmare of Backwater! 😰

Trying to give it a classy ’French‘ flavour with accordion overlayed with ridiculous lyrics doesn’t cut it.

I bet if someone was to play the opening mins of acoustic DDMC in a french cafe or bar they would be offended by it lol though it came out to late for comedy value for Allo Allo to use it one of their episodes. Unless someone is cleaver enough to dub it into a clip to get renees and co's reaction too it lmao
