Oh no! Another icon from my youth gone And a local one at that. I knew he packed in the band because of health issues, although I didn't know what they were. 76 seems no age at all, although when you consider the lifestyle most rock stars have had since the 60's and on into the 70's and 80's, I suppose you might call it a good innings. RIP, Dan. You were a legend in my book

I've just read he gave up the live singing because of COPD. I imagine that will have deteriorated eventually, although I'm no expert.

A sad sad loss. One of the singers you recognized after only a few notes his voice was so unique. His solo album "Last Testament" from 3 years ago is really worth a listen.
The video to the single "Tell Me" from the album is so poignant.

A sad sad loss. One of the singers you recognized after only a few notes his voice was so unique. His solo album "Last Testament" from 3 years ago is really worth a listen. The video to the single "Tell Me" from the album is so poignant. Very good song that, great vocal performance, but equally good visual performance the perfect companion to the lyrics. Nice simple direction, all the more poignant now as you say.

The video to the single "Tell Me" from the album is so poignant. Wow, emotional stuff from Dan. Sort of reminds me of the Johnny Cash song 'Hurt', from Johnny's last years as well. Hadn't realised Dan was recording so recently.
