Recorded through sessions for their "The Miracle" album. Finally sees the light of day now. It's obviously a top drawer Freddie Mercury vocal. Musically it sounds like Bohemian Rhapsody played on guitar harmonics. Kept waiting for something else to happen. But nothing came. If I could sing like that etc. It's ok. Doesn't sound like it would fit anywhere on "Innuendo". And would have improved "Made In Heaven" no end. What else are bands holding from us?!

I was never really into the Queen they became after the mid-70's. The odd song here and there, although I always took notice just in case. Most of their albums had at least one track I liked and usually more. For example, I thought The Invisible Man was superb on an otherwise so-so album. This new song is OK and I'm glad they've managed to do something with it because, from what I've read, the band (well, Brian and Roger I suppose) didn't think it was retrievable. Maybe it wasn't until there was newer technology. The lyrics seem poignant but, unfortunately, I find the melody a little mundane. But Queen fans from the late 70's onwards will presumably lap it up. As an aside and seeing it's a Quo forum, I always wished they'd do something similar with Shifting Sand because it is an absolute gem. Not going to happen presumably. As I often hear or read, "there's no money in it"

I believe the current ‘in’ word is “meh..” but it’s better on the ol’ ears than the vast majority of what passes for ‘popular’ music nowadays.
Yep, I kinda feel the same about Queen, up to NOTW album - fine, no problem; after that though (including the awful live albums) it sounds tired and even tedious. Saw them once at Slane in ‘86… it was enough, tbh. 👍

Can't help feeling it suffers a bit from preconceptions that it was an outtake.

I doubt that Freddie would have given his approval. The vocal is at odds with the music. Discarded for a reason. Wringing every last drop from Queen's past just devalues the band's oeuvre.

I enjoyed that but not so much I'd listen again. Will be cherished by hardcore fans I'm sure
I really enjoyed the miracle album, otherwise I'm with Mortified re Queen

Incredibly personal lyrics now everyone is "in the know", presumably not used at the time because it just didn't fit in with an up-beat album. The lyrics "Master of your home... you have to face it alone" certainly were an augur of when he took final refuge in Garden Lodge. Despite the fact his inner circle were there constantly and friends visited as often as possible without making it obvious to the gutter press, Freddie's fight was essentially fought alone.
