If you count the Scorpions gig, October 1962 - Samuel Jones Sports Club, Saaf Laahndan. The members met while playing together in the school orchestra at Sedgehill Comprehensive School in Catford, London, and consisted of Francis Rossi on guitar and lead vocals, Alan Lancaster on bass, Jess Jaworski on keyboards and Alan Key on drums. According to Rossi, the group was Key's idea, and they would practice in Jaworski's bedroom, playing covers such as The Shadows' version of Jerry Lordan's "Apache, "Wake Up Little Susie" by The Everly Brothers and The Beatles' "Love Me Do". "The Spectres (Scorpions?) first ever live performance took place in October 1962 at the Samuel Jones Sports Club, on Lordship Lane in Dulwich. The band would then perform on a regular basis at this venue until one night a local gas fitter named Pat Barlow offered to manage the band. By the middle of 1963 and throughout 1964 Pat Barlow booked shows in other venues around South East & Central London. By this time the band were all still at school and rarely gigged during the working day." " www.quogigography.net/early-gigs-as-the-spectres-or-traffic-jam.html

What's been the highlight for you guys, as a fan?
I have two. First seeing them live at the SECC 9th December 1986. I was just too young to see them earlier. :-(
Then of course the reunion gigs. For me the second day in Glasgow which was the VIP meet and greet, although of course that first night up the front was incredible. What a 2 days.

The highlight for me has to the NEC Charlie gig in 1982. The build up was unbelievable with media coverage everywhere. To be on Britains most watched channel when there was only 3-4 channels at the time was unreal, especially as it was going out at prime time. Then the concert, incredible, band and fans. All played out in front of the future King Charles the Third, not too shabby eh?

My first gig at the Harlow Playhouse in Feb '72 as a 14 year school boy was only memorable, because I didn't enjoy it at all, it was SO LOUD!! So who would of thought after that experience I would of been at Minehead last week 50 years later. Memorable gigs. Southend Kursaal in 75, Olympia New Year's Eve 75, Cardiff Castle 76, Stafford 77, Paris 79, Hammersmith Hatrick 79, Charlie Gig 82, Milton Keynes 84, Reunion Hammersmith 13&14

Almost too many highlights to mention. It's been an astonishing journey. Like quite a few, my entire adult life and a few years before that. But I'll certainly throw in, for starters, my first gig at Edinburgh Caley Cinema in March 1973. A life changing experience bordering on religious significance. Overstating it? Maybe. But that's how it affected me. I dare say age played its part in retrospect. Impressionable, of course. But people usually grow out of things. Not with this band they don't. Taking sis to her first Quo gig at Glasgow Apollo in 1977. She was 14. We have been permanent Quo companions since that day and she will always be my best friend. She's now a granny and still a Quo nutter. But we've had some adventures and endless laughs. Just don't mention Kenny Dalglish's bar tab at the Hope Street Hotel in Liverpool in 2005 Paris L'Olympia 2006 where I met Mrs Mortified. A fantastic gig. Now one of the legendary ones. Since then, we've travelled all over Europe (and beyond!) following this bl00dy band Francis would be appalled and understand none of it. Don't worry, Francis, neither do I. I've just enjoyed every minute of the ride. I've had a blast. If there's more to life than having this sort of fun decade after decade, can't say I'm really interested

unforetuneatly the people who seen the band in this early part of there career would be long gone, only rossi could talk about this period in depth.

.....following on from my favourite Quo gig, these all come equally a very close second.
1) Reading Rock festival 1978 2) Reunion gigs Hammy 2013/2014
There are many gigs during the heady days of the late 1970s and early 1980s that were awesome, but as time moves on they intermingle into one. Also there were many gigs post 1986 that were fantastic as well.

Highlights for me are: First gig at Olympia NYE 1975 Plus all of the concerts I attended in the 70s particularly Lewisham Odeon, Paris and one of the Wembley gigs right at the front! Plus the reunion tours, especially Friday night at Hammersmith Odeon 2014.

My 40 year span watching Quo at Hammersmith Dec '74 - March '14 I can't recall a bad Quo gig, but then again the venue was made for this band for atmosphere.

Lewisham Odeon 1977 Hammersmith Odeon 1979, still the loudest noise I've ever encountered
Hearing Rain on radio 1 Hearing Mystery Song on BFY for the first time
EOTR Hammersmith Odeon
FF Hammersmith 15/03/13
And listening to every Quo album, even the bad ones have that something somewhere, for example, the play out on Get Out and Walk or the sudden change in Riverside, nobody can do that like Status Quo.
Is the Status Quo sound now a musical style? Out Of My Head could have been written in the 1970's, it's not a copy or a pastiche, it's an original song in the Status Quo style.

Highlights 1st gig September 73 Edinburgh Empire with Savoy Brown in support followed by numerous nights at Glasgow Apollo including the live album recordings. I then went into a drought from 1993 to 2000 as I moved to NZ. However the Status Quo was restored with a trip to Brisbane in 2000 (Roy Lynes up on stage playing with the band again) and then a move to Australia allowed several more gigs. Now settled back into NZ life I guess that's me done and dusted

It's funny, I went back into that venue about 5 years back for the first time since 1973 when I took Mrs Mortified to see "War Horse". It's now called the Festival Theatre and is all glass and chrome and modern on the outside and also in the foyer. However, inside, it hadn't changed! It was still all plush red seats and an old-style theatre/bingo hall. As an aside, I saw a concert programme from that tour on sale online the other day priced at £95. First I've ever seen. I was sorely tempted because I never bought merch at the time. But then the energy bill came in 👍
