Quo have never been a band for writing political or protest kind of songs but this one breaks the mould a bit. I assume it was written around the time of the first gulf war in 1991 and has anthem qualities. It could have made a good single but possibly was deemed too political for it? Some nice arrangements here too.

It's a song I've always liked a lot and, for me, definitely on of their better 'slow' songs. I think it would have made an excellent single but it was probably a bit too serious in light of the whole Rock 'til You Drop campaign. Singles, I've always suspected with Quo, have been picked well in advance and are rarely subject to change, presumably due to manufacturing issues or some other excuse. When it was vinyl or CD anyway. I thought that with the song Heavy Traffic in particular. Can't Give You More was meant to be part of an advertising campaign and Rock 'til You Drop speaks for itself. This is one of those terrific songs that flies in the face of the complete turnaround that was the re-recording of In The Army Now. Left a bit of a bad taste that. For me anyway. An 8/10 this

Not for me 4/10 just does not do it for I prefer slower songs like unspoken words or this is me

At the time I wanted it to be a single . Really good song, sort of felt like a follow up to Army. Might have changed the public perception of the band if they had.
As it was we had unhelpful David walker singles, plus a mime of let's work together on totp. Made themselves look like a spent force.
That said, if this had been a hit it would still be in the set!

Yep. I had pretty much zero interest in this lazy, hackneyed rubbish they were pushing. It was only a few glimpses of old and live gigs that kept the flame burning.

I really like it, especially the last chorus when they are all in.
It’s a song which I think, as a side note, shows the change in Francis’ voice - i think it’s really noticeable compared with the Perfect Remedy album just two years before it
