Thank you for letting me join this group. Thought you might be interested in my story. I lived five doors from Pete in Langdon Road ,Cheriton, Folkestone way back when. We both went to the Harvey Grammar School and both born 1945. I started to play bass in Folkestone's first Rock band in 1958. However at school played with Pete and Noel Redding in school band. Pete used to come round to mine for a jam. Funny enough on odd occasions used to play with Noel and sister Victoria, in Horn Street Park near Noel's home. Of course the school band morphed into The Strangers and The Lonely ones without me. I stayed with my band who eventually formed as The Mixed Feelings. Fame tapped Pete and Noel on the shoulder but totally ignored me !!! However even at 76 still playing in a trio in the North of England. I play 6 string now mainly jazz, blues and Irish. Back in 2014 started a music festival. Alston Live Music Festival here in the North Pennines. Had to stop for last two years due to Covid. ! Leave you with this annecdote. I was behind Pete in the queue waiting to see the career officer at school. He went in wanting to be a Rock drummer and came out wanting to be a signwriter and I went in wanting to be a professional bass player and came out signed up to a local accountant !!!!!

Hello and welcome!
I bought a Telecaster from a guy in the north east of Scotland a few years ago who claimed to have gone to school with Pete. I can't recall his name but might be able to tell you from the Gumtree ad.
You probably know more about Pete than any Quo fan on here!
I didn't realise until fairly recently what a good singing voice the guy has too.

At least in those days kids didn't have social media histories which made them unemployable! Nice to read your music background.

Excellent and welcome Pete Kircher is one of those that most Quo fans know little about. Most of us came to realise he had played with Shanghai when they supported Quo on the Blue For You tour. Only since then have I found out he had been with Honeybus, who had a huge hit in the UK. A no.1 in fact. For those of a certain vintage, think of the advert for "Nimble" bread. My mum used to swear by it when she was on a diet. Which was always Liverpool Express as well, although I don't think he played on their big hit single. Hope he's doing alright. He was probably in the band when they were all at their most argumentative and pretty much hating each other. He deserved better. His performances at the NEC in 1982 and Milton Keynes are testimony to that.

He did brilliantly in replacing John Coghlan.

Welcome issi. Thanks for signing up and sharing your story. And you're still playing music. For me that's what's important.

I had the same thought... and I doubt it! Ironic that a signmaker can't be found.
