Mad to think that whilst this was being mixed at the Marquee Studios, in August 1980, Rick rang through to say that Heidi had passed away.
Great song, and I love the outro solo
John (Eden) also mentioned there's a copy of this song that ends when the tape runs out and ends with a long echo

Never that keen if I'm honest. Just not my type of thing. And go on; admit it. How many of us were disappointed when we first played Just Supposin' and felt this last track let us down somewhat? Leading us up the wrong path entirely But, again, it's my loss. This was quite a big hit single in the UK. The British public is a sucker for a novelty single. And for those who saw Quo as a one trick pony, this was a novelty single.

This is the song that got me into Quo, so now I know their discography it’s not the best song but always a little special to hear .

Not a novelty song in my opinion. Meaningful lyrics and set precisely in a special period of time. Great guitar solo and a showcase for the versatility of Quo.

When I was younger, seeing the Rockin' All Through the Years video, seeing this videoclip and always thinking "How this ballad is named Rock 'n' Roll? Where is the Rock 'n' Roll?". My father have the same thought, and we always skip it. Over the years I became sort of not like it, but I can stand it.

And for those who saw Quo as a one trick pony, this was a novelty single. Luckily ( ) I had heard it on the radio previously and my disappointment was palpable. I actually do like the song for some reason, and the outro is a stonker, complete with bum note. By no-means a go-to Quo track, but at the same time not a skipper either. After 40 years I still haven't worked out why it became a single, especially from the album before last, so to speak.

It's the keyboards that spoil it for me, sounds a bit fairgroundish, imo, but it is a good song.
Edit: & some of the backing vocals don't help either

Brilliant song. That little solo at the end is just wonderful, really emotional.
