"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the crystalline ball" ? That's it. Cheers all. Actually that's what I thought was said, but absolutely not a Scooby what crystalline ball is or means. Is it a ball made out of chrystal he wonders aloud?

My only familiarity with the word "crystalline" is in a limerick:
There was a young lady called Kim who had an extraordinary quim it wasn't the size that attracted the flies but the crystalline gunge 'round the rim!

Crystal - noun Crystalline - adjective
I don't like this song. Monotonous. Always skip it.

I'm sorry you didn't like the limerick, granny Perhaps you'll prefer this one:
There was a young lady from Bude who went for a swim in a lake a man in a punt stuck his pole in her ear & said "you can't swim here, it's private!"

I decided, back in time, that it was "welcome to the Chris Slade ball", purely because of the well known musician/drummer bloke.

Alan throwing us a curved ball?! Twice in a sense with 'Ease Your Mind' and the track 'Blue For You' in the mix. Both fairly laid back, not so much easy listening but Alan trying out a few unexpected musical ideas. 'Ease Your Mind' has an almost Piano (Cocktail!) lounge bar feel to it. Think Andy plays a bit of piano on the track. That all said, I think Blue For You is a quality album and those two tracks sit in well on the album overall in a good way rather than bring it down. If they had played them on stage it would have brought the fever pitch down a bit though! Always good to read your posts mate. Many times I agree with them. But if not they provoke thought. And I like that For me it's a bit different...curved ball ? Yes. without a doubt. In itself not wrong at all, shows one of the many sides alan had. . For me though both Ease your mind and Blue for you belong to those tracks from Alan that I never have been able to really get into. Especially Ease your mind. Cocktail Lounge bar indeed. And I don't like that. Alan has brilliant songs (Don't think it matters, Backwater, Rollin'home, Made some brilliant tracks in which he and francis sang together and they should have done that more often ! Or both singing different parts of a song. But these two ? No, not my thing. Drifting away is another one I can't get into.

Crystalline ball = a reference to crystal methamphetamine (speed)and partying all night, i always thought? good shout, could be. Somebody must have asked Alan at some point, surely? slightly off topic, the "mirror ball" effects later used on RTYD would have worked so well for a full length live MS!!
