Here's a couple of images of Quo playing at the Weeley Musical Festival in the early morning of 28th August 1971, 50 years ago to the week! What's unusual is that in the second shot Rick and Francis are sitting down during a song, something I've never seen before during their FF days! Setlist.fm advises that the songs played that day were: Junior's Wailing, Someone's Learning, Umleitung, In My Chair, Is It Really Me, Gotta Go Home, Mean Girl and Bye Bye Johnny. So what song would they have been sitting down for?? The size and quality of the images are not great but click on the photos or you can also view them at this website: mississippi.pagesperso-orange.fr/musicavec/weeley.html

Some fascinating pics using the weblink. Some take me right back to my teens. Good one of Alan there as well. Groundhogs seem to be there and a couple near the Quo pics looks The Faces. I didn't translate the page, I just looked at the photos. Gerdundula is an interesting opener! Presumably that's why Rick (with acoustic guitar) and Francis are seated. Spud doesn't seem to be on the bongos though unless he has them at his drum kit. Can't really tell. I think I've seen these photos before somewhere but I can't recall where. It'll have been some message board or other. Maybe even this one. Where is Weeley anyway?

I doubt I'd be able to do it for any festival now but I've heard of every single act on the bill. Every one of them went on to have a half decent career with quite a few becoming extremely popular.
