Far from the last but JC just posted this shot. Holland 1978. Frame really should have put an elastic band around those flairs. I wonder why the photographer didn't wait for Rick, I zoomed in and he's there waiting further back 😁 Maybe he was a bit wrecked and couldn't keep up 🤔 Francis wearing flares in 1978... weren't they way out of fashion by then?

Well, it all just makes me melancholic and a little sad as to what was. To watch it all unfold and go to shit was self denying the obvious at the time. The once great Status Quo were no more. Bloody marvellous ride when it was happening mind you!

They certainly were. But I have to hold my hands up and say it took me until about 1980 to get into straight-legged jeans Straight legged meant you were a punk; flares meant you were a real rock fan Delusional, of course, but I was young and hadn't become fashion conscious. That took another year or two. Then I just went mad for the next 40 years

Probably not THE last but some of the last (offstage that is):
John posted these on FB a few years ago, ahead of the 2nd FF tour. They do look miserable, all of them

And speaking of a possible last Frantic Four photo before John left, does anyone know what date John actually threw down his drumsticks and walked out of the recording studio in Montreux during the 1+9+8+2 recording sessions? All I can find is a vague 'late 1981'. Anyone have any more specific details than that? Could it be early 1982? And maybe there's a photo out there of them in Montreux! Maybe! Possibly around November '81. It's the earliest date I've seen for them being in the studio / having recorded material for the 1+9+8+2 album. Not a clue about photos of said sessions however, as studio photos of Quo seem to be very rare. I have just got my hands on a couple of shots from Montserrat First time I read about it was in a swedish newspaper the first week of January 1982 (cant remember the exact date, but somewhere between 5-8 january), absolutely shocking news to me. I cant remember though if they wrote that he just had left or if they wrote that the search for a new drummer already had started by then.

These photos are from before the NTL tour, so there’s probably plenty of more, later photos (at least photos from the gigs). I can’t recall seing any photo from the period after the tour though.

Spot the outsider, er, I mean last man standing! Yeah, I thought the same thing! It's SO obvious it pains me. [Unless, of course, FR has almost gorilla-esquely (?) long arms and that's his hand on JC's left shoulder!!]

Those pics were in the Quo Fan Mag [can't rem what it was called - I'm sure someone remembers that?] I had a few of them back in the day. I always wondered what FR was saying to JC when he [FR] was behind the kit?

Not a clue where, but it's during the NTL Tour Francis, as you can see, has moved on to straight legged jeans. The Graham Gouldman tribute act, however, remains in full 70's regalia Spud was leaving the band to train as a male psychiatric nurse and Rick was evidently bored out of his skull.
