I was at that gig. I wasn't particularly up for it. They were running buses from Edinburgh and I wasn't up for that much. And, of course, Scottish weather being what it normally is. But it was a blindingly hot day and I ended up at work on the Monday looking like I'd immersed my face in a large bowl of ketchup. Complete with white shades marks round the eyes Oh, how we all laughed. Never seen so many hernias being popped back in Despite what the article says, and even with them being local gentlemen, Nazareth were not on the bill. Fish was the main support along with Little Egypt and one or two local bands. There was a very large crowd inside by the time Quo came on and they went down like they always do. A storm. It was still the Heavy Traffic tour although Riffs will have been on the horizon. So I imagine the set would have included the likes of the title track, All Stand Up and Solid Gold. Incidentally, no matter what Rick said (if in fact he said it), this wasn't the first time the band had played Scotland outdoors in the summer. They played Edinburgh Castle in 2001 (on my birthday in July coincidentally) and Celtic Park supporting Rod Stewart in 1991. Just putting the record straight

Just putting the record straight Fish has supported Quo a few times, don't think he likes them though It amused me that the paper puts out a nostalgia article once a week, and this week was Quo from 2003. What would our band leader think 🤔 😁

And the fact that 2003 counts as "nostalgia" makes me feel very old indeed

Fish has supported Quo a few times, don't think he likes them though Nevertheless he wrote some touching lines in tribute to Rick...in fact they were one of my favourite celebrity condolences of all

Just putting the record straight "Quo came on and they went down like they always do. A storm." Even when they're reviewed by critics who don't like them, no one says the reception was muted, even in the freezing cold and pissing rain. The best review for the FF 1970's vintage was by a bloke who didn't like them or know their songs. I remember him saying "I found the gig tedious and overlong but for half an hour they are the greatest rock n roll band in the world"
