Does anyone take farewell tours seriously anymore? Not since ‘the end of the road’. Although Sinatra was on his farewell tour for the first time in ‘75.

I think Elton's had one or two as well. It's just a marketing ploy to sell more tickets of course - and, let's face it, people do fall for that stuff. Even at the fourth time of asking It's just like when some people say they're leaving a message board (or Facebook for all I know). They announce it publicly (presumably looking for the sympathy, arm round the shoulder, there-there, please don't go reaction) rather than just wander off. Then they pop up again later Right, that's me. And don't try and stop me

It's a difficult one with heritage acts, so many members, ex members and a myriad of line ups. Who does the farewell tour apply to? If members and ex members suddenly regroup after many years who's to deny them one (possibly) last hurrah?

How about a "We're thinking about packing it in but we might be back when the money gets a bit tight" tour.

How about a "We're thinking about packing it in but we might be back when the money gets a bit tight" tour. Many are due to expensive divorce settlements. Once saw the Undertones on the ‘Need to pay for the kids University fees tour’.

2022 could be an interesting year for fans of bands with a Purple connection. It should certainly keep Roger busy...
