Also Need Your Love and In My Chair isn't demos/alternatives, they are the BBC version (That or the BBC broadcasted the demos, but don't really think so) They sound like demos that were later used by BBC, though. Need Your Love, from the BBC, is also shorter than the demo version. For In My Chair, I'd have to compare now. It's a remix; same take. Some artifacts present in the original DOTH album are even present on this one, but it's clearly remixed. There are a couple of remixes released, yeah, but no alt takes (that I've been able to track down). Yep. Though, for Neighbour Neighbour at least, seems like a remix done for that release, just like the 1998 Ma Kelly and DOTH extras.

Looking at all the extras from all the re-re-re-re-releases of the first 4 albums and the several compilations with (some of them), I didn't expect if they have something more interesting in the archives. I think they milked the cow too much. I think it would be worth at least having the debut album available in some shape or form... Why the hell wasn't all 3 (or just 2 if that's all there is) nights put out instead of that awful box set? Once again, Quo's legacy disrespected. Nobody really cared to look for the pre-production stuff like multitracks, all that was used was readily available (final masters, bootlegs). I still think it's good we got Andy Pearce's remaster of the original album and Tokyo Quo, but even at the time I compared it to Deep Purple's Made in Japan box set which famously includes all three nights. Just imagine a massive box set including: * The complete, unedited London (Paris Theatre) 1973 * One complete gig from 1975 * One (or two) alternative night from Glasgow 1976 * The complete Tokyo Quo * The complete Hammersmith 1979 I’m absolutely drooling by the thought! It would be an absolute treassure to get, no matter the cost! 1979 would go well with a remix of the Heat album if that ever happens...

With the length of time it took John to get his remix of Rockin' release, 3 years or so as I remember the artwork leaking in 2012, I don't see it happening. Maybe if there are rough edits in the vaults, or even working mixes, then maybe. I'd love to hear the full Accident Prone, but it isn't on the multitracks and I don't know of a version existing - currently. I think there's a version of Accident Prone without the Disco drum beat and more of a standard pattern.

If it wasn't released on the deluxe Heat album, I can't see any of it released again (unless they release something like a well done Anthology, with all unreleased stuff), and the Deluxe of the Heat wasn't exciting at all. With the deluxe releases, they would literally just send the tracklisting to the archive team and would use whatever they were sent - so if it wasn't on the list, it wasn't being used. Same goes for if something was listed that Universal don't have / don't know they have, they would try and out source it and if they couldn't it would be scrapped. Those cassette copies of the demos came from Bob, but some of them still exist on the master reels that were just tucked away in Trend Studios.

"We recorded three nights, and when Rick and I listened back to the tapes it was pretty clear that the final night was the one. For some reason, though, we ended up going with the first night. We felt there was something about it. But now I'm not so sure. Some people think it's our best album. I'm sorry, but I don't agree." - Francis Rossi
"I used to be indecisive ... "
Thanks for the mag ref. The quotes all seem to be from other articles though. I'll check it out next time I go to a mag shop. The Zep article might be of interest ("was that the night we were standing on Party7 cans?" [Trying to remember.] ) but again not if it's all retreads.
