That question was asked in the interview, and Rossi said it was a good idea and one he would look into. Hate to be burst the bubble... How many times have any of us or our managers said, "that's a good idea yeah, I'll look into it," as a response to an idea or thought given to us? It's just a throwaway remark to to appease people. Francis is more interested in getting it together for future shows or writing new material or relaxing, which is no bad thing and not a dig at him. Good on him. He's not going to revisit it and call up Alan or John up. The only way he'd follow through on it is if Simon Porter somehow gave him a good PR angle. Otherwise, why waste time on something only a minority of us would buy? Their target market now is different. The Hardcore fanbase, I don't feel it's as prominent anymore Francis actually has more of an interest in the archival material than Porter. He (S.P.) has been sent various proposals for products featuring new / unreleased archival material that he has either glanced at or been too "busy" to bother with. Imo, last year was a wasted year. It would have been a good time to start remixing unreleased material. One good thing that came from last year was more multitracks being digitised - mainly those of Live shows.

Just imagine a massive box set including: * The complete, unedited London (Paris Theatre) 1973 * One complete gig from 1975 * One (or two) alternative night from Glasgow 1976 * The complete Tokyo Quo * The complete Hammersmith 1979 I’m absolutely drooling by the thought! It would be an absolute treassure to get, no matter the cost! I'd go for;- 1975 - Live! Boxset Bristol, Kursaal, Stoke, Lancaster (All 4, rather than one - What I've heard from Stoke is brilliant, but Rossi said that the Lancaster show was tremendous) 1976 - Live! Boxset (remixed & revisited) Live At The Glasgow Apollo, 27th / 28th / 29th October Sunplaza Hall, Tokyo, 17th November 1976 Live At The Hammersmith Odeon - 26th June 1979 (Don't Waste My Time - Soundcheck at Wembley Arena. Filmed for Jim'll Fix It / Amsterdam 19th February 1979 News Reel (if it can be tracked down) - both could be uploaded to the bands social sites for promotional material for the release. ) It's pointless revisiting the Paris Theatre show as there isn't much missing, besides some chatter from Rossi and possibly some bits during Someone's Learning... I'll have to check and compare that one. It would only be worth it if they were going to do a RSD release on CD / Vinyl Edit;- They could also use the Super 8 footage of the balcony, captured at one of the Glasgow Apollo shows - shot from behind the drum riser.

Out of interest Quoincidence how do you have all this knowledge? Are you working with the record company to organise the deludxes et as a sort of resident expert? I think you said before they wouldn’t go down the crowd funding route. Sure there would be 500-1000 people who would be interested in a Live three nights box set. Do you pitch ideas to them? Thanks

Thanks It initially started as just helping with the Deluxe series when frozenhero brought me on board in 2017 / 2018, and then from that point I built up a great relationship with Universal and helped them discover what they actually had in their archives - which they are having to re-catalogue anyway. I've pitched various ideas to them that myself, and the guy who is digitising the material from Rossi's studio archive, have put together.

A RSD vinyl release sounds like a brilliant idea!)

Francis wouldn't have any involvement with the remixing process. Rough mixes would be sent to him, more than likely, to get his thoughts / opinions - like what John Eden was doing with the Rockin' Remix. Other than that, it would be remixed by a team that I know and could trust to give us something amazing.

All fascinating stuff. Knowing what's out there I mean. Not as much as many bands but more than we all thought probably. The Paris Theatre broadcast wasn't a full set as far as I can remember. The radio show was only an hour long (all of the "In Concert" broadcasts on Radio 1 were) so I presume they didn't play Umleitung and Is It Really Me/Gotta Go Home due to time considerations. Although that's just a guess really. Talking of deluxe editions, is next year a good time to give Heavy Traffic the treatment? Being 20 years old an' all. Just the tentative suggestion of a sad old Quo fan

Just the tentative suggestion of a sad old Quo fan I reckon there will be a sh*t ton more. There's also the PYE archive, that's in BMGs possession nowadays... but they aren't as open as Universal about what they have. Then again, Universal have gotten stricter these days as they can't seem to trust anyone, and for the right reasons tbh. I have faith that loads more stuff exists. There's some really odd (but interesting) material that I know of, and I wouldn't see that existing over album masters, live multitracks etc. The only thing I wouldn't count on existing anymore is the full Marquee '72 gig, or even the 4 tracks shown on TV. It isn't in the Swedish TV station archive, and Universal only seem to have the edited master for Don't Waste My Time and Paper Plane with Bob Youngs intro at the start.

Looking at all the extras from all the re-re-re-re-releases of the first 4 albums and the several compilations with (some of them), I didn't expect if they have something more interesting in the archives. I think they milked the cow too much.

Talking of deluxe editions, is next year a good time to give Heavy Traffic the treatment? Being 20 years old an' all. Just the tentative suggestion of a sad old Quo fan It's meant to be... but at this point, I have completely lost faith with the next and final set of Deluxe Editions. Perhaps they've been scrapped and it hasn't been mentioned to me. I normally do monthly check ups to see if it has been cleared, but I've given up now as it's always the same answer. I hope they have been scrapped, so a remix can be done of the Heavy Traffic album which would mean the unreleased songs finally being available for the first time. I'd also like the Sutton Park show and Riffs album to be remixed, both of which are due to be "deluxed". Riffs, mainly for the sake of any outtakes, like Down Down, to be included.

Same goes for the various compilations;- Down The Dustpipe (Compilation) and the Singles Collection CD. Gerdundula (Early Version / Alternate Version) The Price Of Love (Alternate Version / Stereo Remix?) Tune To The Music (Instrumental Remix / Alternate Version (Possibly a different take, going off the drums) ) Nanana (Alternate Version w/ Rossi's intro. "We runnin'?") Josie (Outtake Version) Nothing At All (Part of Demo) In My Chair (Alternate Version) Need Your Love (Demo w/ Bob Young vocals) Is It Really Me / Gotta Go Home (Early Rough Mix / Alternate Take w/ Rossi chatter "c'mon Mackenzie - hurry up") Daughter (Early Working Mix) Mean Girl (Early Rough Mix) When studio tapes still exist for album sessions leading to more Alt-Takes etc, I'd say far from milked There's still some unreleased songs from the Spectres days

There are three different Tune To The Music, in addition to the original, for instance. But Daughter (Early Working Mix), Mean Girl (Early Rough Mix) and Is It Really Me / Gotta Go Home (Early Rough Mix) aren't actually unreleased versions. Just someone that grabbed one of the channels and added distortion and some heavy EQ. Those are fake.

Also Need Your Love and In My Chair isn't demos/alternatives, they are the BBC version (That or the BBC broadcasted the demos, but don't really think so) The 2nd CD of the singles compilation contains (There's) Something Going In My Head as an alternate version. Don't remember right now if it is a remix or a real alternative version. It's been ages since I heard that CD. There's floating around the famous Good Thinking (Batman), which I think in some other release was labeled as alternative version, but don't know where. Also the 2nd CD contained some alternatives from the spectres if I remember well.
