Totally agree. Easily the best live version of the song. If criminally short. The original I will always love. It's languid swing has never been given the credit it deserved. Rick once said that it was the one song he wishes he'd written. Doesn't matter who wrote it when it sounds as good as this

To my ears it all sounds too processed.
In these days technology was starting take over in an effort to make everything perfect and crystal clear but to me it just sounds processed to an inch of its life and is as a result lifeless and plastic. Sorry. Listened as far as the solo and then had to stop. Drum sound echoey and horrible, guitars not earthy or vibrant enough etc etc
IMHO of course.

In my world the version on the Live!-album is THE version, an absolutely magical version, Quo in a nutshell so to say, one of my all time favourite Quo moments!

I've been playing this version since a bootleg CD of it pitched up somewhere; presumably taken from the 'video' in 1989. I absolutely love it. That bootleg had the Steve Wright show on it as well. No idea where I got it. Nothing beats the original of course, which captured the band at a given moment in time. But I guess this does as well. Just a different moment in time. There isn't really a poor version of this song for me. Even the one from the Pictures tour with the added harmonica is very good. I'm pretty sure In My Chair would be in my top 5 Quo songs of all time. I shall therefore now play it again

I've always rated this version and agree it's too short.

I think all of Quos Live VHS releases have that sort of processed sound. Just compare the mix for the RTYD Event material from both the documentary and recent deluxe releases. The offline edit for the Birmingham show sounds more natural. I'd love to remix the multitracks for it, or even hear a monitor mix / production copy of the whole show.

I've always rated this version and agree it's too short. Made even shorter due to an unnecessary cut towards the end of the song.

Indeed one of my favorite renditions of this song! The other being from 1973:
