As is always the case, when you're on the internet there's always some link that ends up taking you onto the bloody Daily Mail site. There's a phoned in article from a few days ago on there, on Francis and his current health regime if anyone is interested. Seems kind of a plug for the tour but usual lightweight tabloid guff and I'll not link to that rag.
There is one bombshell: "While he has turned his life around for the better, Francis confirmed he still has one vice, a single cigarette which he savours between 5.15pm and 6.30pm daily."

What, does he just sit and look at it for 75 minutes?

I'm no smoker, but that does seem a rather long-lasting cigarette or maybe just a very long cigarette?

The Mail article is juat a "quote" from they say the Sun, but it's pretty much identical to the Mirror one. These websites do a lot of scraping other publications. He's been talking about his one ciggie a day for a few years now. I wonder if he would panic if he had to start before 5.15?

Do you think Rossi has OCD or likes too stick too his routines and if he misses 5.15 for his cig he gets annoyed about it at times he seems like he is strict with his general day to day routines

I think we all have some degree of OCD. Even the smallest things we're not aware we're doing.
But in his latest book (AAA), he mentions his routines quite a bit. It is exactly the same every single day when he's on tour. Less so at home but he still has his morning routine.
He has that treadmill like most people. Get up, go to work, come home, go to bed.

He used to talk about his routines back in the late 70s and early 80s.
He discovered that late night rehearsals and recording didn't work for him. Sounding great in the moment but when listening back, any recordings were not truly cutting the mustard.
He used to talk about getting up, driving the children to school, then back home and straight into the home studio for a 9-5 type of routine and his rock n' roll lifestyle being a regular job. He found it more productive in that way. Rick was a different animal entirely and would write or practice at home only if in the right mood.
Talking about all this reminded me of Mike Rutherford and his unlikely collaboration with Eddie Van Halen some years ago now. Mike had been told that Eddie liked to start work early. Which was fine in his mind as Mike didn't rate late night jamming and recording for the same reasons as Rossi. Though it became apparent that early meant 2:30am! One of Eddie's quirks and routines would be that he would start work in the studio at 2:30am each day. Mike hung in there for a few days but eventually had to quit as unable to maintain that particular routine.

I don't know why people didnt stop interviewing him 15 years ago, apart from his whining about Frantic reunion and his comments about Rick, Weve also seeen it in documentaries. Weve all got routines, where's the news here? its the same stuff over and over. I dont expect he minds as it's not hard work and he gets paid, but.... uuuurr, why bother? I couldn't sit through his butterfly mind ramblings on his books it would drive me nuts

Francis is honest about his thoughts and feelings wether you like it or not. He doesn’t try the Rock Star Bullshit so he is more interesting to the media. Just an honest Bloke who enjoys his time at home but makes sure he is ready to do the day job…. Fully committed !!

For as long as the media think he is still relevant. And he doesn’t direct the questions. If they ask the same things they’ll get the same answer. Not his fault. And when he is asked something different his answers are always of interest rather than run if the mill. That’s what I think anyway as I still find QUO and their line-up of interest. But each to their own.

And when he is asked something different his answers are always of interest rather than run if the mill. That’s what I think anyway as I still find QUO and their line-up of interest. But each to their own. And for as long as they keep asking. Which they seem at pains to do. But the type of TV programme he has a tendency to appear on (and newspapers I suppose) lend themselves to the mundane and to the repetitive. By that I mean, daytime or breakfast TV, early evening magazine shows, that sort of thing. An in depth interview sitting with Kirsty Wark for an hour isn't on the cards any time soon. But that suits him. It means he only has to be the promotional showman; the front man with that good old British institution. And the real Francis Rossi remains at home. Or on the bus. Management and media company set him up for these things and he rolls off the answers with ease. I know people say what you see is what you get but I'm not convinced. He's played the part most of his life. He doesn't even open up in the fan club mag. I personally admire him for it. It would drive me nuts
