I'd love to know what label is releasing it... The artwork, I'm not overly keen on, and the chosen pictures are completely past the timeline of these 2 performances.
It looks like a bootleg release imo, even thought it's "official". I wouldn't exactly call the photos "archival imagery" when they can be found on any stock photo site like Getty, Alamy and Rexfeatures.

I think its a bootleg, like mostly everything these days. Even the font used is a standard one, not the font the Quo use (or at least similar, like some of the compilations from PYE era).
I'm just sick of the quantity of bootlegs that are released these days, all of them in vinyl and nothing new to offer. What's the point?

I'll check in with Universal, as the material being released is part of the Sanctuary / BMG archive as well as being owned by various TV companies... so if it is a bootleg being sold via Townsend Music Store, I'd guess a hefty lawsuit will ensue... or they'll be struck with a C&D order.

It's being released by London Calling. They're a Greek label operating in the murky legal grey area of live radio broadcasts, same as Coda etc. They tend to pay any PRS due and go ahead with the release because there's no legal reason they can't, even though they're not approved by the artists. Different countries have different laws, so they're technically legal in some countries but not others.

So, although not official, technically not really a bootleg either.
As already mentioned, the photos don't reflect the time of these recordings but it looks very nicely packaged nonetheless. And maybe something that SHOULD have been released officially at some point over the years. Like the Swedish one a few years back that was pulled at the last minute.
Not to be too critical, it would have broken up the sheer monotony of the Live Here Now releases. And, let's face it, these tracks have been available on DVD for years. Both officially and unofficially.

I spoke to a guy on the phone this morning at Townsend Music about this and told him it wasn't an official release through Universal, he confirmed it was a radio broadcast licensed to London Calling (as Jason says), and as far as they are concerned it's an official release.
I just know it's gonna sound horrible with too much music on each side, isn't Doing Their Thing 25mins+ by itself? Surely it wouldn't have cost these clowns much to press it to 2 discs, I'll not be buying it til I hear reports of how it sounds.

As jason said, I think it's a release from the "grey market" or whatever is called. I'm curious if Universal can forbid the release. So, now I'm thinking it. The PYE material is now in hands of Universal too? I just checked my DOTH release from 201X and yes, it's from sanctuary/BMG.

The link is removed. But maybe this incident helps BMG to get their head out of the sand? Ages ago I suggested putting these tracks together on a CD...

Well, I'd certainly buy it but I'm not pre-ordering it. Too much uncertainty surrounding it's release. Although I'm still seeing the album on the link.
