The rtyd version has a good solo at the end, gets my vote for that
This was the only Quo album I bought on cassette. In the end I knew how many seconds I needed to press FF for to miss the song or get to the solo at the end

I realised this is a trick to con people into listening to this song - twice! I'm not falling for that The shortest version gets my vote, based on the track lengths reported on wiki

It's like giving you a choice of being sodomised or partaking in necrophilia. Both too horrid to contemplate.

Genuine interested - what genre of music is Tommy’s in Love?
Same question for Tango - the absolute nadir of the bands output

Tommy Ramone. Ups, that wasn't the subject of the question I believe. Yeah - I saw the thread title and thought, "I'm going for Tommy Cooper". Sadly though, it was about some crappy song 😢

Just had a listen to both, think I prefer the Perfect Remedy one, just think the production on that album suits the song better. But when it comes down to it, it isn't a good song, so no matter how you record / produce it, will never sound any good.

Genuine interested - what genre of music is Tommy’s in Love? Same question for Tango - the absolute nadir of the bands output It's in the same vein as Beautiful. The style was explained by Francis during his talk tour a couple of years ago. But I can't remember what he called it. But he did say he loved it. I guess it's one of those; you either love that style or you hate it. It harks back to the days of The Platters etc. and various crooners in the 50's and 60's. As for Tango, I think that's a genuine attempt at a tango rhythm á la " Fernando's Hideaway" - if anyone knows the old song. If not, listen it and compare. If you can bear it All three of them plus Restless are easily my least favourite Quo tracks. I don't even have to think about it.

Ha! Actually yes - sounds not unlike a 1950s American prom song. Just recorded differently.
Exactly what we all want from the band that wrote 4500 times

I am probably going to get blasted for this but...
If the song was recorded and arranged in a way that "Everything" was on Ma Kelly's, it would be redeemable and listenable...
As it is, it doesn't work and comes across poorly. Not much or any thought put into it. Either it was written very lazily or with an arrogant approach/attitude. Margarita Time is a decent song well recorded and performed, just not something you'd have expected from Status Quo at that time and it's OK as a one off. If this had come in 1983 instead...Oh God..
Ha...Pissing myself, at the thoughts of 50,000 fans at MK and this been played... Francis: "You sing one..." THAT Crowd: "Let me go let me, let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go"
Whilst Alan rips off his moustache in protest

On the PR version the riff is played by a synthesizer while on the RTYD version its a guitar. Nor the synth or the guitar have a great sound but I prefere the guitar version.
