Well, a fun night was had for those of us that made the fan club launch event. Jeff's last gig, a spirited short show with an amazing crowd reaction to 4500x
I won't be listening to the album and reviewing it again though!
At gig volume, Way Down and Once Bitten were very very good
Low point was runaround sue. Lots of us just looking at each other which a WTF face on!

I remember liking this way more at the time than I do now with years more hindsight.
I remember liking Way Down a lot and Roll over Beethoven. Being disappointed with Runaround Sue as I thought they would a Wanderer style rhythm to it. Things like Once Bitten I enjoyed mainly because after a good deal of rubbish you could finally hear Ricks guitar loudly and distorted.
But looking back it’s another poor phone in cash in with zero redeeming qualities other than to fulfil a contractual obligation.
The cover looks like everything about this era of Quo - cheap. A cheap imitation of sgt pepper with Francis’s face looking photoshopped to look like Joan Rivers.
The gig at the Shepherds bush empire was amazing though. But it did highlight the huge disparity in quality of this material and Quos self penned early stuff.
Not an album I ever revisit.

Another truly low point in the bands career. What on earth were they thinking ? Was it a DW idea or had he passed away by then ? Cheers

Dreadful. The sound of a band sleepwalking their way through dull, uninspired, lifeless cover versions of songs that had already been done to death. Their worst non-acoustic album by some distance. And just to make it even worse, there's a picture of Margaret bloody Thatcher on the front.

Rossi pretty much renounced 'Famous' on daytime TV (This Morning?) at the time which had been refreshing, though didn't stop him from the usual promo stuff of 'Hound Dog', 'Mony Mony and 'Old Time Rock N Roll' etc for nostalgia reasons (careful) but what can you do?
For nostalgia reasons (steady on ol'chap), I enjoyed Quo's interpretation of 'When I'm Dead etc' and 'Once Bitten etc'.

Weakest of the three covers albums with a sleeve that made me wince even more than Don't Stop - and that's saying something Very few redeeming qualities. Even the cover of Roll Over Beethoven matched ELO's rather than Chuck Berry's. I did see them play that live though; as an encore in Gelsenkirchen. And it was pretty good. Didn't hear it again after that. Live or on CD . Sweet Home Chicago is the best track on it for me but it's still not as good as it should have been. Woodedz did an excellent rendition of it for a while with Freddie's guitar lifting it to new heights by comparison. Way Down was passable and I admit to revisiting these two now and again. Once Bitten Twice Shy they should've left alone. A song that you'd think was tailor made for the band lacked any conviction or power compared to the original. The rest was just fodder, including the title track. I'm even having to check the track listing to remind myself what was on it. I rarely have to do that. A mention in passing for the live recording of Forty-Five Hundred Times which pitched up on whichever single it was. It gave me goose-bumps. The crowd were brilliant and it was blistering for the short time it was played. Apart from the original, I think it's my favourite version. Sacrilege to the 22-minute worshippers, I know, but you like what you like, eh? However, I do admit to learning something. I had no idea Roy Orbison wrote Claudette. Education is a wonderful thing Quo's worst ever release? Quite possibly. 2/10 for the two songs I do play.
