Mountain Lady Fine Fine Fine, should have worked harder on Lonely Night and stuck that on the album. The guitar solo on Drifting Away fcuks the song up. Shady Lady..anthem to some old bag with hairy legs. Someone Show Me Home. No problem, here's the door now fcuk off. Again and Again. Embarrassing rubbish.

Let's Rock. Cringey track through and through The first two verses, lyric wise, are absolute tripe!

I think this one has morphed into songs we just don't like. Someone Show Me Home? Never seen praise heaped on that one For me, there aren't many at all. I tend to be a bit of a sheep and like all the Quo songs everyone else does But one that tends to get a half decent press is Mountain Lady. I've never understood the attraction. To me, it seems to fit the profile that everyone disliked about Quo material from mid-80's through to the late 90's. But this was the 'old' band and it was one of Alan's babies So maybe I do understand the attraction after all

For me it's not about who wrote it, I couldn't care less (and was completely oblivious of it at the time). It's got a great melody, it's varied, good outro, but most of all a sense of mystery... It's got absolutely nothing to do with the 80-90 crap which was to follow. So again: Mountain Lady is a Quo highlight.

It and others in the 80s kills the myth that Alan couldn’t write melodic rock. Francis and his followers are to quick to pigeonhole the band members.

Actually, to be fair, Alan was always a melodic writer. It's his own projected self-image that might have led to any other perceptions. And anyone who has a hand in the writing of A Year gets my full admiration. I was having an unnecessary and underhand pop at certain factions with an agenda. I shall take my medicine with dignity

Accident Prone.
Just don't hear much of a "song" there, just dreariness. What's the appeal? Something a bit different? I'd like it for that reason if there was some meat on its bones, but there ain't, for me! It's the musical equivalent of a straight line - no peaks and troughs.
I know they didn't write it, but it falls into that Rossi/Frost realm of weird songwriting, to me. Jealousy is right there with it.

Let's Rock. Cringey track through and through That's being kind. Besides that steaming pile, my suggestions would be: - Don't Waste My Time. Controversial one but, especially listening to live gigs, this is one I tend to skip a fair bit. Not a bad track but incredibly highly revered for what is rather "Quo by numbers". - Forty-Five Hundred Times. The Hello version is so stilted and flat to me that I've never particularly enjoyed it. Vocals are weak as hell too. Basically every other version is fantastic though. - Coming and Going. It's too long for a track that doesn't really go anywhere. By the end I'm just waiting for it to finish. - Take Me Away. I've just never got into this one. - This Is Me. Dreary and uninspired, with awful twee lyrics that sound like they're written by a 14 year old. - Gravy Train. Legit gives me a headache.

How much you want for it? Interesting list though. The first 4 in there are generally considered to be Quo classics. But then that's whole point of the thread really. Nice

Nice Whoops 😁 That's embarrassing. I've fixed it so no-one needs to know *cough* I'll blame the fact I just woke up.
