Salyut 7 ?, Looks interesting Railroad - tell us some more? It's pretty gripping stuff about a great Soviet fcuk up and cold war paranoia. Not all true but it does feature a docking maneuver, ranked by NASA insiders as the greatest bit of space flight ever by a pilot, better than Lovell and Hayes' realignment burn on Apollo 13. Did you know that if a Cosmonaut fcuks up he won't get paid his full money. A good look at the other sides way of doing things the Soviet way. I'm not really a space 'anorak', just generally interested in it - so, no, I didn't know any of the facts you mention! I wonder what constitutes a Cosmonautic fcuk-up?? [as opposed to a more usual 'earth-bound' one!] G

Probably my favourite 'comedy' film... [and the last - to date - good Steve Martin, and Eddie Murphy too, film]

Hi All, An Australian film called Nightingale 2018 (via Netflix). The film Set in 1825 in the British penal colony of Van Diemen's Land (Now Tasmania). A bit graphic especially the 1st 30mins - (Rape scenes and child murder) but it sets up the rest of the film perfectly and although like above on the whole a watchable film.
Starring:- Aisling Franciosi,Sam Claflin,Baykali Ganambarr,Damon Herriman,Harry Greenwood,Ewen Leslie,Charlie Shotwell, Michael Sheasby,Charlie Jampijinpa Brown,Magnolia Maymuru,Nathaniel Dean and Luke Carroll.
Clare, a young Irish convict, chases a British officer through the rugged Tasmanian wilderness and is bent on revenge for a terrible act of violence the man committed against her family. On the way, she enlists the services of Aboriginal tracker Billy, who is marked by trauma from his own violence-filled past.
Controversy!
The Nightingale received heavy criticism following its initial screenings at the Sydney Film Festival, where approximately 30 film-goers walked out of the theater in disgust due to its extreme depictions of rape and murder. One viewer was heard shouting "I'm not watching this; she's already been raped twice" as she exited the theater. Kent defended the decision to show such violence, saying that the film contains historically accurate depictions of the violence and racism that colonial power inflicted on the indigenous Australian people of that time.
The film was produced in collaboration with Tasmanian Aboriginal elders who asserted that this is an honest and necessary depiction of their history and a story that needs to be told. Kent said she understands the negative reactions, but stated that she remains enormously proud of the film and stressed to audiences that this film is about a need for love, compassion and kindness in dark times.

Good call @1batfastard - I've seen this and it is a really good film. As you've said though, if you're any way queasy [and you should be!] about "historically accurate depictions of the violence and racism that colonial power inflicted on the indigenous Australian people of that time", then maybe try Fast and Furious or some similar brain-deadening dross! Hi All, gerh - History should be told as it was warts and all even if that offends some people it's the truth good or bad, not all this PC crap that is going on in the world today. Below is a post on an aviation forum thread referring to the RAF's decision on replacing Guy Gibson's Dog's named plaque with another plaque that is PC.
Actually the one on the left is a different one from what was outside his old office it used to be a little brass plaque on a cast concrete base if memory serves me right when I was stationed at RAF Scampton in 78/79.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi All,
It's only racism if fits whatever agenda of whoever at that particular moment in time, using whatever catalyst to promote a furthering of ideas that are not common amongst the general population of whatever country. Most so called outrage are just latching on and using personal tragedy for the sake of self promotion and ideals sadly.
Common sense where has that gone ? you cannot learn any lessons by wiping away history no matter how ugly it is. Erase history you erase the lesson to be learnt and all that remains is hearsay as the proof has vanished. Ref:-ISIS and their destruction of ancient monuments!
All this is just the PC agenda gone mad by the Donald Trump generation who think they have the right to spew all the hate and vitriol about whoever and whatever. What many forget is that in any free society thousands have paid the ultimate price for that freedom to allow them to do that.
Like Mark Twain said:-
"Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story"
It seems to my own opinion that the Donald Trump generation have taken this to heart and will not stop, ( Acting just like spoilt little children in reality until they get they're own way).
They will continue to throw tantrums destroying Businesses/Peoples Livelihoods and taking peoples life/Towns/City's etc etc etc Even to the point of turning on each other when one of them makes a wrong comment, sadly until somebody stands up against them we are along for the ride as seems many governments have all of a sudden caved in to this madness.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just as many like to think there where not atrocities committed by the allies in WW2 it's unthinkable but it did happen and more than likely in many other conflicts. We shouldn't dwell on these human errors but accept them and learn from them hopefully never to repeat them but as we both know they still happen Bully and Victim you could say sadly...………………..

Free on Amazon prime at the moment, they couldn't charge for this shit. We've had 4 go's at watching this rubbish and still haven't finished it. The direction and special effects are awful but they are nothing compared to the performance of Jason Statham. He speaks in a very odd accent which makes it hard to pick up the dialogue when he rasps and mumbles. The other cast members have that "steaming turd for Christmas" look on their faces. The input of Chinese finance is soooo obvious. The film includes every shark movie cliche imaginable with plenty of Abyss thrown in for good measure, they catch a shark which isn't the shark, the old bite radius cliche, a crane detaches itself and drags some poor fcuker down, Statham manages to outswim a 75ft fish, might work on land I suppose. Cheap rubbish that gives the impression that it was made with the horror channel in mind for people who can't get to a cinema and would like this crap. My dad once gave this type of stuff a name, it really is a "Masterbarti Production"

I usually avoid these people, they are filed under "Oh no, not that wanker" but I thought it's on Prime so why not. There's a series on there called Manhattan about the first atomic bomb and it's worth a look. I'll see your list of shit actors and raise you Matt Goss. I heard him deliver this classic line while lying ill on the sofa unable to reach the remote. The film was a two bob version of Lord Of The Rings on some shite channel. The premise was that to defeat the bad guys the good guy had to find the chalice of the phoenix and get it down his neck. The immortal dialogue occurred when he told a group of followers " I am on a quest to drink from the fiery cup"..fantastic. I imagined the blokes he recruited earlier saying "I thought he said furry when we joined, I'm going back home"

When I read your '...find the chalice of the phoenix and get it down his neck' line, I have to admit that I thought, God that's a BIG mouth to fit a chalice down his neck - but of course its the contents not the actual cup, having said that tho' some of these guys/films are SO shit-poor anything is likely!!
I CONSTANTLY wonder who funds these hopelessly rubbish things? AND then I imagine the 'pitch' that the maker [or whoever] comes up with... 'Yeah - I'm seeing a big golden chalice and the guy has to swallow it to find the [insert improbable object here]' 'Yeah GREAT Bob [it's always Bob] - but don't you mean the stuff IN the chalice?' 'No no no Tony, [also, ALWAYS Tony] - it's the actual chalice - y'see he's a Pelican!! Aha, Yes, you didn't see that coming did you??' 'BRILLIANT Bob - how much do you want' Blah blah blah.
🤢🤣
