It’s not just recent times regarding the Quo album. Even as far back as the late 70’s he thought the production of the ‘ Quo ‘ album Wasn’t up there with ‘ Hello ‘ or ‘ ‘ OTL ‘ It’s just his take on it that’s all. Not everyone thinks the ‘QUO’ album is their best. It’s all subjective so he has an opinion just like we all do. He does say we have had Shit albums and shit songs as well as good. I think we all agree with him on that. To me the Quo album is perfect as it is,I’d hate to hear it mixed another way.My favourite album Cheers It would be less macho and threatening if Pip Williams remixed it for the good of us all.

Time moves on, it's a typical FR interview, I don't think he's malicious, just honest (rightly or wrongly)

Time moves on, it's a typical FR interview, I don't think he's malicious, just honest (rightly or wrongly) There are some inconsistencies in what he says. He at first says Rick changed after his heart attack in Turkey. Then he indicates much much earlier. Francis clearly has a problem with people who drink. But everyone has their own truth.

I think both are probably true. People do change as the get older, and they can change quite a lot if they have a serious physical near-miss with End of Life. Rick was clearly very ill after the heart attack, and probably never got near having his health back before the sepsis ended it. He was well through his 9 lives by that time.

The 'QUO' album certainly seemed to strain relations for a time between Francis and Alan/Rick. I gather Francis (and Bob) had possibly been pre-occupied with writing for a 'solo' album and Alan and Rick were getting frustrated with him and went off together and started working on tracks for the 'QUO' album.
There is an honesty about Francis but he can seem to use it to undermine or mock in some situations. I felt quite saddened that he (and even Rick initially) after the first tour were banging on about Alan and John's lack of experience with technology, the clicks and in-ear stuff and sounding almost mocking.
It wasn't any surprise to me though with Alan and John, as Francis and Rick hadn't stopped working on stage on the never ending tour of duty and in the studio since the split but a very different scenario for Alan especially and with John. Though JC had been playing small clubs and pubs and there wasn't always a need for the advancements in technology. I don't know for sure, but it all sounded a bit one-up-man-ship in those interviews but couldn't understand why Francis would try that cheap shot in an interview. Maybe Alan had been digging in about not needing the technology and perhaps a compromise became impossible.
Certainly the idea of 2 weeks being enough for rehearsals seemed to be based on the fact that Francis and Rick were a well oiled touring machine but very little consideration of Alan and JC in that way of thinking. It started to feel that the reconciliation came with some baggage still.
There is some irony of 'Marguerita Time' being Rossi's favourite Quo track with his anti drinking stance now. I remember him saying that he would have accepted Alan's stance on Marguerita Time if Alan had refused to take any playing Royalties. Perhaps Francis should now refuse any Royalties?!...or I am being very childish and churlish? (yes).

So he is blaming US for QPQ being a bit of a dull album! Well there's the rub, QPQ and Aquostic are the 2 most playable albums they've produced since they were,.... Status Quo c. 1981
