Good interview, don't remember seeing that
Interesting that it's HT and QPQ that get the nod as best "lite" albums. I'd go along with that

Good interview... Complicated individual...
Perhaps he meant the studio mix but, calling bollocks on the "guitars had to be the same level" quote. Was at a gig where Francis had issues with his guitar and had to change but, the power was still there. I've seen Rick break a string and had to change his guitar and the arse fell out of the song.
That's just egotism on Francis' part...In the studio, very easy to pan two rhythm guitars either side and have a lead cut through the middle so he would always be high in the mix. Considering his guitar was always cutting through more, he's talking rubbish on this

Francis is very contrary. His point about QPQ is correct. His earlier comparisons to ACDC and the album drew some bemusement but his point is now clear
No mention of thirsty work now or the 80's
Maybe there will be a chance of a remixed or remastered HT after all?

So he is blaming US for QPQ being a bit of a dull album!

So he is blaming US for QPQ being a bit of a dull album! I didn't take it that way. He thinks it's a good set of songs.. aimed at people who like a bit of Quo and think they all sound like that. It was a Tesco exclusive, if I remember correctly I'm just really surprised that his assessment now of the best two lite albums.... are the heaviest two!

I agree with his and your perspective, of QPQ. However, his subtle belittling of the Quo album makes me laugh It's probably the best Quo (no pun intended) album of all time yet, you can tell he hates that. Probably because he didn't have much control over it. I don't know... Just find it funny how he always mentions it last and almost underneath his breath

It’s not just recent times regarding the Quo album. Even as far back as the late 70’s he thought the production of the ‘ Quo ‘ album Wasn’t up there with ‘ Hello ‘ or ‘ ‘ OTL ‘ It’s just his take on it that’s all. Not everyone thinks the ‘QUO’ album is their best. It’s all subjective so he has an opinion just like we all do. He does say we have had Shit albums and shit songs as well as good. I think we all agree with him on that.

It'd be interesting to see Francis talk in more detail about the Quo album
If course he came back "on the level" because he thought Quo was "unbalanced". I don't think it's sour grapes against Alan, I think he genuinely wasn't happy with the sound and never was

I'd go along with that In case you want to read it as proper text and not a messed up screenshot... www.eonmusic.co.uk/status-quo-francis-rossi-eonmusic-interview-april-2019.html...the arse fell out of the song... Love this. It’s not just recent times regarding the Quo album. Even as far back as the late 70’s he thought the production of the ‘ Quo ‘ album Wasn’t up there with ‘ Hello ‘ or ‘ ‘ OTL ‘ It’s just his take on it that’s all. I think we all agree with him on that. To me the Quo album is perfect as it is,I’d hate to hear it mixed another way.My favourite album Cheers I'd liked to hear a remix but not because of guitar levels... simply because there is a distortion on the whole thing, and especially on the last two tracks, that I find quite distracting. Francis is very contrary. His point about QPQ is correct. His earlier comparisons to ACDC and the album drew some bemusement but his point is now clear No mention of thirsty work now or the 80's Maybe there will be a chance of a remixed or remastered HT after all? Remaster should happen soon. Not sure about a remix, that's much more complicated... It's good proof that all this "oh, Francis only wants to make soft country pop and doesn't like heavy boogie anymore" talk is complete and utter bollocks.

Quid Pro Quo, best album they did since never too late. Aquostic was also up there for me.
I dont really care wht he says about theQuo album, it's that good it speaks for itself.
Can happily live without all the rest.
He contradicts himself.so much it's worse than listened to a failed politician.
