Taking on James May after he left Top gear really invigorated the band. Hope it does well! Must be a theme, the other band has Quentin Wilson 😂

They sound like post Heavy Traffic Status Quo. They are two pleasant foot tappers. Great ? Not at all. They would be at best fillers of any decent Status Quo releases.

I had the CD in my mailbox on Saturday, which I stupidly only noticed on Sunday noon. Anyway, put it right into the player and off we go: Lockdown feels even more powerful, strongly produced, the song simply is ace! John let's his hi-hat rattle (is that the correct word? Hope you know what I mean) wildly, as only he can! Open the hi-hat, 4/4 time, 4 to the floor and Nino is happy! 10/10 points! No Return is also great, but doesn't blow me away as much as I thought, maybe it will do so in the future after more listens. It's still super catchy, I sang the chorus all day long. But the production is much too muffled to my ears, the voice too much in the background, the solo unfortunately hardly audible - at least very very low in the mix, other than Lokdown. Pity. And it really annoys me that the intro totally reminds me of a Quo song, and I just don't know which one! Anyway, nice little song, 7,5/10 points!

Fantastic achievment! Couldn't happen to a nicer guy and shows the Quo army are as loyal as ever. It will certainly have given Francis one hell of a shock. When was the last time he achieved that?

A great achievement and I’m very happy for John. He has over the years carved out a nice niche within the Quo fandom.
How many copies do you need to sell to make the physical chart?

This is the physical singles sales chart isn't it? Sadly, it shows how much more dominant downloading & streaming are as JCQ don't even crack the top 100 on the main singles chart

Message from John on FB.
I would just like to say thank you to everyone for all your lovely messages; it has been a long time since I have been in the charts, entering at No.2 and I cannot tell you how much this means. So I would like to thank my band and everyone (Jason Hodgson, Gillie & Fi) who has worked so hard behind the scenes however they have contributed. We are not a corporate entity with huge promotional budgets so to see JCQ taking on such big-hitters in the chart is amazing. But we could not have done it without you, the fans and the success you see is also yours to share, so please take a bow. All of this excitement has inspired us to proceed with what we hope will eventually become the first JCQ Album of original songs. I can tell you the boys are writing some great songs which I hope you will all enjoy, from what I have heard so far they are coming up with some really great music. I see that among your lovely messages Francis is often getting compared with JCQ quite a bit, but please understand this is not a competition. So let us remind ourselves that this wonderful style of music that we all love so much was first created by the band, Francis, Rick, Alan and Bob who I'm sure you will agree, did a very good job! Also we would like to see photos of you with your CDs so please do post in the comments. This is only the first week in the charts so lets keep this going and who knows what is possible. Once again from the bottom of my heart thank you all so much for making an old man very happy.

True though, that it may not compete with more current/mainstream releases

Fantastic achievement! Never met JC and I'm sure he's as flawed as the rest of us but, he seems like a good man.
On a side note, as said above, that will really come as a shock to Francis. He will not like that one bit!
