I’ve always found Live a strange listen. The guitars don’t sound crisp and I agree with the reviewer the crowd is distant. It’s heavy, and energetic but I just don’t like the sound. I wonder if part of this is age related? I've no idea how old you are but youngsters are now so used to ever sharper recordings and playback with digital technology and modern studio gizmos, that what we regarded as cutting edge in the 70s now for modern ears just doesn't hit the mark. Old tech headphones and old type stylus technology did for my ears long ago.

A mixture of all 3 nights shows, contrary to the belief of it being the first night. Tbh, the crowd could be a lot louder and consistent throughout the mix. As soon as songs start, the crowd noise falls dead. Listen to Little Lady. As soon as that first note hits, the crowd has gone completely from the mix. I've seen a lot of people say they prefer the Live E.P recordings from 1975, myself being one of them. However, the Live! gigs could truly sound even better with a modern remix and releasing all 3 nights. Get Tokyo Quo remixed as well as that's another shocking one When the crowd was louder in Caroline NEC single mix it sounded silly.

I like the album except when Jackie Lynton is asking the obvious. How much would you pay for a whole nights recording warts and all, everything left in, no edits the full show.

A lot of that crowd noise was dubbed in though, ontop of the crowd already mixed in, compared to the live album. That show also needs remixing, as I've never been overly keen on that release.

I don't mind the crowd noise being completely dead at the first notes. I like hear the atmosphere, but not in every single second on the record, as for example, the crowd overdub in the Kissology videos for example. That's annoying.

All I know at the current time is that Jackie Lyntons intro and Is There A Better Way are from Night 2. Around 1:21 after Jackie Lyntons intro, you can hear it cuts to a different night. I'm guessing Juniors Wailing is from the 1st night. Jackie Lyntons intro from the 3rd / final night was what was originally going to be used on the Reunion Tour, where he introduces the band members individually. No plans currently, but I have mentioned it a fair few times. All 3 nights exist on 12 reels in total - 4 reels per night. To me, the holy grail would be all 4 nights recorded in 1975 still existing and the full set from the Reading 1973 recording. I know 1 of the reels from Stoke 2nd March 1975 gig is still around

The 2014 box set of Live would be much better if Universal put those in there. Another missed opportunity I guess. By the way, I can hear a cut before Big Fat Mama, so whatever the night used for ROLD it's different from Big Fat Mama. Also, Francis introduces Rain and just after that, I can hear another cut so, that is from another night. Except from those, I didn't notice more cuts.

I would be very happy with a better sound remix on the Apollo shows.

The crowd noise in the mix hasnt really bothered me , although you can tell when its turned up . Still a great album , if not the defining Quo album for me.

When I was a kid in the late 70's/early 80's, I loved this album to death but as I got older I reappraised it as only very good. The Radio Clyde gig from Glasgow in 1982 is far superior in my opinion.
