That first review, in particular, shows what a music critic is capable of producing as a non judgemental piece and one who actually listened and considered each track carefully. They were not always panned by the music press, just by the lazy 'jump on the bandwagon' critic who loved the power of lamenting a band they particularly didn't like.
Its a first class review of a first class album. The highlight is the musicianship on this album and a solid reminder how talented this band were as a whole and how dumb they were to let it all go to pot!

Music critics? Who takes any notice of them? As the bloke reviewing a Steely Dan record wrote in Time Out, I've never forgotten it, "The music slips into the consciousness like a buttered dildo"...maybe that was what was wrong with Quo, chronic shortage of buttered dildo moments.

I dread to think which metaphor this critic would use for Modern Romance. Better not dwell on it.
