At last we know from which magazine these are taken. It's a brilliant collection, MB, keep 'em coming.

I've never ever seen a review for this album. It was before my time. Fascinating to see it. " A thoroughly musicianly approach" - What does that mean exactly?

Agree with Francis. Quo at the time were new artists and it was quite the normal procedure in those days for debut albums to contain a few covers and hits from that era . This was before the era of the concept album and artists being allowed to reign free a bit on what they recorded. In hindsight maybe would have been better to stick things in like Bloodhound, Things get better, I want you as these are songs which they were doing live at the time.

Sheila & Spicks n Specks ruin it. It could have gone down as a Psych classic with better choice of material. Those tracks and to some extent Green Tambourine bad choices.

To be fair, Quo were at the mercy of the record label and allocated producer. Most artists are to some extent, especially those wanting to be 'pop' stars, so they'd have songs either written for them or taken from a list supplied. As well as doing the obligatory covers.
Psychedelia was just a little before my time. I've only listened to any of it in retrospect and, I must admit, it's largely not for me. So Quo's first two albums are there simply as part of the collection. First time I heard anything of this nature by Quo was when Face Without A Soul came out as the B-side to Down The Dustpipe.
The album is what it is and of it's day. A moment in time.
