Interesting! Wonder if they will decide to tour again? Nah, that would just be daft, surely?

I thought it was a rather lame cover, tbh. Didn't improve on or add something notably different to the original, imo.

Don't particularly mind it.
It's better than Big Man and 90% of 1982, MT, Win Or Lose, Dreamin', Speechless, 90% of Perfect Remedy, majority of the songs on the cover albums...
Not a great barometer obviously but, meh

I thought it was a rather lame cover, tbh. Didn't improve on or add something notably different to the original, imo. I felt pretty much the same. When it comes to the release of singles Ol' Rag Blues through to The Wanderer was a pretty poor run. As a rock band and artistically at any rate. Maybe only exceeded by I Didn't Mean It through to All Around My Hat. And yet, all of those in '83 & '84 charted pretty well. So I guess the Quo argument would have been 'job done'. And I can't really argue against that. Not with any real conviction. The vast majority of covers that Quo have done have added little to the originals. One or two dotted about where at least the approach was a bit different ( Not Fade Away springs to mind). But most have stuck largely to the more recognisable arrangement. Then again, maybe that's the point I'm missing. They need the public to recognise it

Like it, although grew to resent it's live overuse. Never heard the original

Hi guys,
This brings me in mind of one of the most important moments in Quo's comeback. Remember that sales in the late 80s had struggled with Perfect Remedy not as well received as it should have been. The album was great but the Radio station wouldn't play it much.
It was necessary that something innovative had to happen for 1990 to be a big celebration and indeed the Anniversary Waltz singles provided that. As a matter of fact it was only The Wanderer that made this possible. The band were at the point of giving up on the idea of the Waltz until Rhino suggested the Wanderer as the link song. It was a huge breakthrough and the rest is history.
The Wanderer was for a short time played 3 times in one show. Played in full near the start of the gig, then later in the main set during Roadhouse medley then in the encore in Anniversary Waltz.
Fans loved it when the GOMORR said, here it is again!

I remember, Radio 70's Vapours wasn't having it at all. "It was necessary that something innovative had to happen". Something innovative is new and original. "A cover version combining elements of multiple pre-existing songs is a cover medley". Innovative? The positive was that the useless old Coghlan bloke wasn't around to bugger it all up as the band became Status Jivebunny...glory days indeed. Lloyd Owusu couldn't lace Keith Wellers boots even if Weller was wearing slip on's. Hopefully there's not a "From the vaults" cover of Come On Eileen floating about.
