Got to say that JC pic is by far worse than the Quo one. It really is laughable 😆 😆

There is NO place for gay men in Rock and Roll and anything that looks even a bit 'gay' should be banned from the internet and the annals of history! Macho men only!

Every photo we look at here is just symptomatic and a reflection of the times they were taken. Bands turned up for a photo shoot, the marketing people got involved, fashion photographers were brought in and the band did as they were told. Most look well daft now, but have you ever looked back at a photo of yourself in the 80's? I've got one or two that I wonder what on earth I was thinking! But at the time, I thought I looked les ballons de chien And in some of the shorts I was wearing, les ballons must have been close to the edge! There's a photo of me at a wedding in 1982. I've got a perm you could carry out topiary on. Good old Rob Halford though. Great singer, great band. Hell bent for leather indeed. How did we not know?

4th Chord I admit when thinking of a response to the 'gay' controversy I was thinking of Rob Halford. There are just certain clichés or stereotypes in pop culture and the JC picture had some of those 'vibes'. Being surprised at that doesn't necessarily mean one is anti-gay. (There are also many gay men who don't "look gay" at all, same goes for lesbian women, so it's a limited set of categories anyway. I also don't mind when Harry Styles puts on a frock or whatever. I do mind when he sings though )

The pictures of AC/DC or Motörhead didn´t changed in the 80´s and so their music.

If a photo shoot blurs the lines. That may well and often is deliberate. It doesn’t make it ‘a bit gay’ for the reasons given above. When you look at Rob, if you thought it was a ‘bit gay’ well yeah it was in an empowering sense not a negative sense.

There's one STAND-OUT difference [granted, among a good many] between Quo and Rush [even allowing for the God-awful 80s 'look']... Rush were NEVER shit. I saw them at Hammersmith and thought they were, fcuking snowdogs and trees. Ah so again, our views diverge, Mr Road - c'est la vie 🙄 [Btw, Rush were NEVER shit!]

If only they didn’t have a singer who sounded so odd.

I read this too quickly first time around as "... les ballons de chicken" - and thought, 'wtf... Chicken Balls'?? [Maybe you had to be there? - I laughed though ! 🤣]
