Strange it didn't chart coming after the relative success of the previous years releases, Down the Dustpipe and In my Chair. Lack of promotion by Pye perhaps?

One of the few tracks '70-'76 that doesn't do much for me. Mean Girl was the strongest track from '71 for a possible single, imo.

This never got played live which probably not surprising due to it’s fast guitar arrangement? Mind you mean girl wasn’t much slower I suppose.

I think with some early rocky Quo there’s instances where they’re still finding their feet. This is one of them. The hooks aren’t as good as say In My chair or mean girl. The difference in the quality of songwriting between this and say don’t waste my time or paper plane is night and day.

One of those that sneaked up on me. I had Piledriver, the Dog album and Ma Kelly and had seen the band live but a schoolmate bought the PYE compilation The Best of Status Quo and this was on it. I never knew it existed. I love Francis's vocals on it. He still had that distinctive, languid nasal quality that was pretty much unique, although it did resemble Canned Heat's Alan Wilson to an extent. Listen to Going Up The Country and you'll see what I mean. As with it's two singles predecessors, it never appeared on any album other than a compilation (I'm choosing to ignore the American release of Ma Kelly). Who did they think they were, The Beatles? I like it very much and I think that's the first review I've ever seen of it. Nice one
