When the two personalities seem so polarised, or there is very little, if no common ground, there's no middle ground either, and it's hard to truly sit on the fence as an SQ fan - something, no matter how seemingly insignificant, is going to align you closer to one side than the other.
Difficult to be impartial when we're talking about the underlying and fundamental dynamic of Quo - the Alan vs Francis, rock vs pop, hard vs soft, tough vs easily led (weak and insipid), in control vs out of control, STUBBORN vs STUBBORN! And all that leading (maybe) indirectly to the demise of that amazing run of creativity, and the rebirth as a lightweight (by comparison) much more superficial, much less earthy version of the original and definitive version.
For me, it comes down to not the personalities, but organic music vs processed music. It's as simple as that, and i can leave it there. And i do enjoy a fair bit of post-FF Quo too, but for different reasons than the reasons i love the original version. Lucky me, he he.

A drummer that can't keep time, a macho poser bass player... Let the music do the talking. I know which albums I prefer. And since when has growing up become important in Rock 'n' Roll?
Somewhere out there you can hear Rick laughing

Reading the above argument, you can see how easily a disagreement between 2 people can grow arms and legs and end up in the courts! 😂

Young Ones quotes still don't cover the fact you're tearing shreds out of me defending a bloke who played bass in a band over 30 years ago because I have the opinion that he too may also not be perfect. At no point did I display an attitude of hate towards anyone, nor did I say Francis is some sort of untouchable divine being. I'm merely giving you the same dose of medicine from a different spoon, i.e. you being firmly in the 'Nuff's been thrown under the bus' camp whilst I'm suggesting that there are many instances of both known stories and sheer common sense and experience to suggest Francis has equally been thrown under the bus. If you don't like an opposing opinion of others, perhaps gardening would be a good outlet as opposed to slandering me or anyone else with a different opinion for that matter. Do grow up. 👍 Please don't use terms such as slander on here unless you have an actual case. Please provide an exact quoter where I have slandered you. Unless of course you wish to hear from my solicitor. Apart from that please refer to Curiosgirl's post on the matter and the line she drew. Surely your Young Ones post came after curiousgirl had drawn the line?

The matter is dead now, I hope. Without slandering anyone, I think you know all about working with talented if rather childish and headstrong musicians. Whether you were ever friends with them or not. To get back on topic, I just can't see what benefit to anyone, Edwards saw by allowing the interview to go into this territory.

And that is only when Quocacola1 responded as he did. Yes, technically it is not slander. But I did warn Paradise Flats not to keep making digs, however slight he thought they were. And now we have this. I hope this draws a line and ends this bickering. It is extremely childish from those members concerned.

All Railroad's stuff about working with people rang true for me from the start ... because it was happening to some friends of mine (including some very close ones) at exactly the same time. Happily I wasn't involved in the actual project. It didn't take them many years to fall out either. I don't know if Alan was/is arrogant in the larger scheme of things, but he's a bit of an Alpha, and possibly somewhere along the way he failed to notice that Francis is too, in a completely different way. I do recall that Alan was absolutely taken by surprise when he found the rug had been pulled from under him.
I got the impression during the rehearsals in the documentary that Alan was being practically pushed about, and ignoring it as much as he could. From the outside it looked like he was really making an effort to be positive, whereas Francis was being quite snide at times, in the film and on interviews. Just little digs you could miss if you squinted. However on the other side FWIW the only person I knew for a while who worked for the Quo camp Said that Al had a snapppy temper (said without malice but with feeling). So he may well be his own worst enemy under stress.
As for the Reunion, I was too busy enjoying it to count the errors. You could see Alan was fragile on the bass. I was just happy to hear him sing with Quo again.
