I'm guessing it will have been just before the Piledriver tour?

They were still playing support to Slade for the January '73 Australian tour. Not sure, but weren't they support to the 'bogus' Fleetwood Mac in 1974 ? Although not technically support, they opened for Deep Purple on the Australian Double Trouble tour around 2007/08 & for Queen in 1986 as well.

They continued to take support slots outside the UK on tours in Europe & USA as well, but that was only to be expected. In latter decades an established band like Quo don't get described as "support", they're "special guests" instead.

70's Quo, in the UK anyway, would have been Slade in '72 I imagine. Of course, since the 80's, you can add one or two, the best remembered probably being Queen in 1986 and Rod Stewart in 1991. And, more recently, the very odd Lynyrd Skynyrd slot

Yeah, I agree, the Lynyrd Skynyrd supporting slot was very odd. Rather like the Rolling Stones supporting McFly!

Yeah I realise they were support outside of Europe during US and Aus tours For Europe I think it's a good guess it will have been the last gigs before the Piledriver tour. Didn't know it was with Slade ,is that where the seed for Quo ohohoho was born I wonder ? Can anyone tell me which bands Quo supported in Europe 71 and 72?

Can anyone tell me which bands Quo supported in Europe 71 and 72? That chant started at Glasgow Apollo. Once it made it's way onto the live album, that was that. Adopted by one and all. I don't know how or when it started at the Apollo. I noticed it for the first time during the On The Level tour in 1975. The Slade 'version' was on their single We'll Bring The House Down but that wasn't until the early 80's or so.

According to the excellent quogigography.net site, Quo supported T. Rex on a couple of German gigs January/February '72 & again in Germany & Austria in February '73

My understanding is that quo ohohoho was a take on woe ohohoho which im told was common at gigs ,including early 70's Slade

I did/do have Slade Alive though The only time I ever heard that chant back then was at a Quo gig at the Apollo. Since the live album, I've heard it at pretty much most Quo gigs. It's just an observation based on experience though. Wish I had a time machine rather than relying on memories that could well be flawed
