They should of played 4500 Times, until the plugs were pulled Thought exactly the same - sound guys looking at each other going "wtf".
If Jeff was in the band they would have got it finished.

I prefer to think they would just play more of the song, rather ; )

I always thought it was down to the fact that WYY needs a guitar change and is in Dropped D, therefore taking too much time to prepare. Basically it's the same as the official answer, but I never knew they were supposed to play 4 songs, thanks for that! And regarding DWMT: I think it was chosen because it has this great crowd participation moment when Rick hits those chords on his own and then the song gets going one final time!
Btw: I LOVE this "after four" - "four" moment, just brilliant

I think WYW would have been the wrong choice because in that setting the intro is too long and slow. RAOTW and Caroline both get going quite quickly. I always thought DWMT was a strange choice because it’s an album track (I think) not a single. Paper Plane would have been a better choice. But it doesn’t matter. Quo did good😎 They could've scrapped the intro and played it the way radio stations in Germany usually butcher it (i.e. starting with the riff)

Quo that day were bang on form. The correct choice of band to open up the days proceedings. Had they have gone on at around 6pm, then they might have had the world wide acclaim that Queen and U2 recieved, or very nearly at least. Dont Waste My Time certainly surprised me, not only is it not known to the general public as it's an album track, it's an absolute Frantic Four era belter of a song.

It omits the drop-D "intro" too and starts with the "fanfare"-ish main riff....

If they played 3 album tracks from 1+9+8+2 then public donations would have increased in order to get them to stop 🤮 World wide poverty solved.

Next Year is the 40th Anniversary of 1+9+8+2. Quo are planning a commemorative special pressing of it in brown vinyl. There will be bonus tracks and additional liner notes.
The unveiling will be next year in the auspicious surroundings of the Dog and Duck Pub car park in Skelmersdale.

I have to say that I thought they were brilliant at Live Aid and were the perfect act to open it not only because they have incredibly catchy tunes, not only because they had RAOTW but because of their personalities. A pretentious rock star would've set the wrong tone from the off. Francis was perfect with his "Alright"s I'm extremely glad they did DWMT 'cos it was brilliant. Far bouncier and more crowd pleasing than WYW and fitted the mood better. And it has a great moment when Francis starts it by saying "after 4, 4!" Only Quo could have done that. Brilliant choice of songs, excellent performance. (I don't mean musically, I mean for the occasion). Set the tone for the whole day. Which made their treatment at Live 8 appalling! DWMT seems to be a bigger deal back then. It got talked about a lot more, people liked to play it as a starter guitar solo. It certainly went down well.
