Marquee, '72 (June show also seems to have been captured on a single cam, in what capacity? I don't know and I don't know where the footage is) United States of America, '73 (Yet to be seen ) Swedish Footage, '73 / '74 Wembley Empire Pool, '74 Sydney Hordern Pavilion, '74 Madrid, '75 Jazz-Bilzen Festival, '76 Glasgow Apollo, '76 (Yet to be seen footage captured on a Super8(?) of the balcony bouncing) Stafford Bingley Hall, '77 Belgrade Pinki Hall, '77 There are also some footage from Denmark circulating, two different shows. I cant remember right noe which years, but maybe 1974 and 1976. Which are the Swedish gigs you mention? I know that they played live 1973 in the swedish tv program Oppopoppa together with Manfred Mann. I’ve never seen the Quo songs, but one of the Manfred Mann songs is to find at youtube in absolutely perfect condition. You're right, its footage from Denmark isn't it. There was a website that had the dates for those bits if footage, but it's long gone

Someone else here maybe knows what happened?

Francis with a Stratocaster and the red waistcoat, and Rick with a Les Paul and another guitar, maybe it was the one of the Quo For You book cover. The footage was in youtube, I have it in a hard disk. But checking that video now, yes, it is clearly footage from two dates, maybe two different years. One footage Francis has the black waistcoat and the green tele, and on the other footage has the red waistcoat and the statocaster. The swedish footage was erased IIRC, wasn't it?

Yes I remember reading at the homepage/blogg (?) the guy who shot the danish footage had, he wrote about the two gigs. I seem to remember that he wrote Quo played on borrowed equipment as their own gear had been stuck somewhere during transport and didnt arrive in time for the gig. The latest gig (maybe from 76?) was lots darker, not as good quality as the one where Rossi has a red waistcoat. I can’t remember where they were shot, probably one in Copenhagen, but the other one somewhere else in Denmark. Sorry for my quite bad english, but what is IIRC? It seems strange that the Quo songs would have been erased while the Manfred Mann songs were kept, as they (as far as I know) were broadcasted in the same TV-program?

I was at that show, 3rd row in front of Alan Hey Michele, how did you discover Quo. I’m just curious as they basically were unheard of at the time. I know they supported Slade the year before in ‘73. I first heard of them in ‘75 after seeing Down Down on Countdown.

Hi Gaz, Down the Dustpipe and Pictures of Matchstick Men had already been hits here so they were on my radar from that. Then when I started going out with my husband in 1974 he had a couple of their albums because he'd discovered them when he saw them support Slade at Randwick Racecourse. I loved the albums the first time I heard them, I think he had Piledriver and Dog of Two Head but he soon got more.

I do remember hearing Down The Dustpipe when I must’ve been about 12 or so, and I liked it a lot but had no idea it was Quo until a couple of years after I bought On The Level and saw them live in ‘75 at Canberra Theatre. I saw them also at the Hordern Pavilion in 76 and 78. I still rate their gig at the ‘Hordo’ in ‘78 as the best I’ve ever seen of any band. That RAOTW tour in ‘78 was massive over Australia, and was very disappointing that the never returned until 1997.... by then though they were a very different band from the original and the best but, despite the absence of Alan and John, they have always delivered a great show. Hope all is ok with you, Michele

I think the footage is from '73 & '74, definitely no later than '74, as Rick still has his really long mane of hair on the footage which was gone by late 74 / early 75

He switched to the white Tele during 1974 (if I remember it correctly he has the Tele in the footage from Wembley 1974)
