Anyone got a good rip (mp3 or video) of the live version they did on foreign (I think?) TV around the time of the album release? The version on YT's a bit on the crappy side quality-wise.
Much appreciated π

I've contacted the company, and they still have it. Need to get back in touch Ooooh nice to hear that somethings actually survived for a change. I shall await eagerly! π myself, hershie and a guy close to the band are constantly digging around to see what various companies have... TV / Radio etc I emailed them about both performances, Whatever You Want / Can't Give You More along with the soundcheck footage that can also be found on youtube in shocking quality.

Are we talking 91? Did they play this song live in the 70s? Don't believe so. They didn't play it on the Rockin' tour anyway and hard to imagine it pitching up on any other late 70's tour. I think the fact that it was a single and meant to support a commercial for a French mineral water company at the time probably encouraged them to do it on French TV. But that's a guess really. Maybe they just fancied it

I prefer the 1991 version, I find it rawer and rockier.

I think I prefer the '77 version which has less intrusive synthesiser and no sing-along-a-chorus backing vocals. But, to be fair, these tend to emphasise the product they were to advertise, so I can see why they're there. But I'm quite happy with both.

And I also think it's one of the best lyrics Rossi/Young did together (whoever did the lyrics of them)

Great song. One of my favourites. And yes, a brilliant lyric. There's some heartache in that one!

14th March 1992, on a French TV programme Ah yes, is it the one Francis loses his voice on then? Yep. Forces himself to try and hit the high notes Here's the episode... it cuts during Quos performance and goes straight to the credits The performance of CGYM was supposed to be on Disc 2 of the RTYD deluxe, but we couldn't find a decent copy at the time... I only recently found out about the TV company still having the show, and the said company is owned by Universal
