1+9+8+2 = 20 years ago today Status Quo performed a tour warm up/promo gig on a rail cart at Grandchester Railway Station, (Queensland), which fortunately is not all that far from where we live. As an avid fan, I went along and snapped some photos, (just as I had done since the 1970's), and emailed a few digi-pics to their website manager, Mike Paxman. As they say, "The rest is history." I was privileged to become their official Oz photographer, got to know my teenage idols and met so many wonderful like-minded fans here and overseas. What a life changer! To quote the late, great Rick Parfitt, "Not a bad life really."

I was lucky enough to be there too, seriously hot day! So pleased for all the access you've had to the band in Australia, you've given us so many awesome records of the band's time in this country for two decades. Also consider myself lucky to have since made your acquaintance and enjoyed your friendship and company, both at home and overseas!

Good post davec. I still have that great photo (now framed) I bought off you after those shocking Brisbane floods a few years back. Could you possibly put up a few photos of Quo’s Aussie tours in the 70s? I was at Hordern Pavillon for their 76 and 78 gigs. It’d be awesome to see some photos thanks.

Used to snap, develop and print my pics 'back in the day', but the negs didn't survive so well. So different nowadays! Here's a montage of pics from Quo's gig at Festival Hall, Brisbane, in 1975.

Thanks Dave, great memories, and I remember those big stage fans on full blast during those Aussie gigs in 75 and 76. The boys were taking well use of them especially on that hot December tour in 1976.
