The 2 Alt Takes / Alt Mixes of the track "Mountain Lady" that have been in circulation for a number of years.
Whoever leaked these at the time will have taken them from the 1/4" tape reels they were sat on... same goes for Falling In Falling Out (Vocal Take) and Something 'Bout You Baby I Like (Acoustic Gtr Track)

I don't see the big difference between these two versions, except that one of them is a bit weird in the middle (seems it loses quality). Admittedly, I never really used much time to properly compare them (and I'm talking about the bootlegs). Oh and one has the start a bit cut, in comparison to the other.
These versions you uploaded run at the same speed as the bootleg versions, but they are mastered differently. With more mids and less bass. And, especially with lots of emphasis on the mids to push the guitars... That reminds me of Andy Pearce.
What's interesting about the bootleg versions the circled around (these 2 alt mixes, the 2 others you mentioned (which includes the acoustic SBYBIL without the fade-out), Rock n Roll Floorboards and even Naughty Girl and its extended version) is that they are mastered very similarly to Tim Turan's tracks. So I wonder if they were remastered by him, in order to be included in the 2005/2006 remaster reissues, but then were dropped.

It was the same thing last year with the "alt mixes" for Fighting For Love (The Power Of Rock n' Roll)... The 3 Alt Takes I was sent to choose from had very minor differences, which made it harder to pick one that was the slightest bit different to the album version. Rock And Roll Floorboards and Blondes Don't Lie were planned for the 2005/06 Tim Turan remasters, but the rest weren't as I've not seen them on the original Prod. Masters listings

The mix on the first video is much more detailed and open than the second one. The snare cuts through and has more punch to it, the bottom end has more oomph to it. The first video is much more detailed than the mix on the album as well, weird they didn't go with that one..

But in the case of these two alt-mixes of Mountain Lady I can hear lots of differences like the vocals being more in the front, guitars and the drums without effects (maybe the drums aren't triggered like the album version (I suppose), so I like them very much (I was really dissapointed that at least one of them not being included in the deluxe album). But Fighting for Love...I heard it like 5 times back to back with the album version, and I still can't say what are the differences.

Fighting For Love (Mix 2, Comforts Place Mixing Sessions) - Tom builds drier and something to do with the Vox (vocals)

The first video is much more detailed than the mix on the album as well, weird they didn't go with that one.. I noticed that at first, but then realized the first was slightly louder. After reducing about 1 dB, they both sounded the same. Except the second lost some quality on the sound, after about 1 minute and 30 seconds. I'm talking about the bootleg versions, by the way. These from the videos I only listened to the beginning and compared with the bootleg, to see which one corresponded to which. I only got access to the bootleg versions fairly recently, so I haven't had the time to compare them properly. When I do, I'll pay attention to those details you mention! Cheers!

I thought it had more bass, but that was from the mastering. Fighting For Love (Mix 2, Comforts Place Mixing Sessions) - Tom builds drier and something to do with the Vox (vocals) Ah cheers! When I get the time, I'll pay attention and see if I can spot that!

So, I noticed the main difference between those two mixes. At 3:17, the synth that appears, on the first track, it has some mistakes, when the notes go down, after the long note. On the second track, the long note fades and you just slightly hear the next note, just like on the album mix, omitting the mistakes.

I read the thread before deciding about whether to listen to them. I suspect I'm not going to notice much given the very fine detail being discussed here (including language I don't actually understand ). It does sound like the difference is minimal to the uneducated ear. Pity about Rock 'n' Roll Floorboards and Blondes Don't Lie. Which albums were they pencilled in for? Just as a matter of interest.

You need the old audible anorak for this type of thing.
