I was listening to this the other day and it struck me the speed of the solo was pretty swift at bits, I hadn't ever tried playing it so thought i'd give it a go, it wasn't the easiest thing to learn, a couple of licks are deceptively fast for a ballad and very tough working out what he is actually doing. Anyway this is my attempt at it, could be miles off! . Just a simple backing I done with basic recording and mixing, one version at normal tempo and another at slower speed for anyone who might want to give it a go.

I just watched your ROLD solo, why can't Rossi do it like that?

I just watched your ROLD solo, why can't Rossi do it like that? Well I'm only trying to counterfeit what he done bud, but I think that one benefits from dropping the tuning a bit, certainly gives it more of a heavy sound. Pretty sure Rossi would have played it quite close to the original recording
back in the day, but 40 odd years of playing the same solo must get a bit boring I would imagine.
Thanks for watching, appreciated.

Great stuff as always from the Scottish Maestro! Not heard that in years, nice to be reminded of it. Lovely!

I enjoyed that! What a pity it's in Blue for You ;-D You don't have tab, do you? (I did do some working-out in my time and I know that it's b**** hard work!)

Aye it's a bit of a tricky one bud, I haven't got a tab for it though sorry, I just picked it out by ear and singled out each phrase and kept repeating it till I was familiar enough to move on to the next bit.
Always find that playing along to some Slayer first is a good technique before learning a Quo track, gives the hands and fingers a good workout because it's generally needed! .

This is brilliant
First time I've looked in here at the musicians section
I started learning guitar during lockdown ,really enjoy it and do 30 mins per day.
I'm a long way off calling myself a musician though 😆
