I love it, it should have been on the album, could have been a lead single even. It's just the mixing that's the problem, but that's a problem for the whole album.
I enjoyed Crazy Crazy as well.

Just went and listened to it for the first time. It's like most of the album, lots of potential that never works out. It's glaringly obvious what it's missing, too; a decent rhythm section. It has no balls, it's just some fluff that could go somewhere but doesn't. I'm disappointed because I really wanted to love it, like the rest of Backbone. Which song are you talking about here?

Face the Music, I assume. Well we did manage 7 replies before somebody had to turn it into Current Quo versus Real Quo/JC Quo dick measuring exercise IMO Lockdown sounds nothing better than an average Quo by numbers track, it's ok but that's a different debate.

Well, no, but you just did? AQ gave a harsh opinion, and any band's output will be compared to their best stuff, of course it will. FTM I'd give a 5/10. Chorus is dull, some nice guitar in there including the solo. Drums sound like someone playing tupperware.

He mentions both Real Quo and Lockdown in a topic about FTM, and hadn't even listened to it at the time.

It's the chorus that grabbed me from the off, love it. Agreed there is some nice guitar work in there. Never noticed the drums to be honest. One of my favs off the album along with four or five others.

It's just a bummer that Francis insisted to mix this album

It was not 'turned into' a debate about the current band versus Quo until you did! You think the song is by Quo. Others do not. 'American Quo' expressed a view on the music and this obviously reflected which band recorded the music. He used 'real quo' to differentiate the original band from what he also referred to as 'Quo Lite' using a phrase coined by Rick. The bottom line is that Face the Music is very ordinary, instantly forgettable, dull, all in my opinion of course. and I wouldn't even give it the kudos of describing it as 'Quo by numbers', do not think it is Quo in any case, so it docent matter, but if you think it is the dogs bollocks that is your prerogative and fair play to you. To each their own.

I really like this track, great little tune, in the top half of the tunes on BB, although not in my top 5 of the album.

I know lots of people on here think it's the bees kmees to me it's nothing special give me breaking away any day boogie rock The best song on Backbone wouldn't have been good enough on any album from the real Quo. IMO It depends what album you class the real Quo up to?

Then came Quo 2 until 1986, then Quo-Lite and now Post-Quo. And this from someone who never head of them until 2014. To me they were all the same until I listened to them; I didn't have a dog in the hunt. For example, my contempt for Rhino's pedantic bass playing is based on how it sounds, not that he replaced Alan Lancaster. I didn't know the difference until I heard them.

Wow, you really have to search for a long time to find a more steady rock bassist. Just listen to him play Caroline, a league of its own.
