Further to another topic thread, I thought it would be good to create a timeline of events of this tumultuous period in Quo's history So far I have: 7th September 1984 - Rick Parfitt guests with Queen at Wembley • September / October 1984 - The Wanderer recorded Autumn 1984 - rick and Alan go to gaslight studious to record demos of new material for the next album (date needed) • October 1984 - Wanderer Promo This might be Alans last studio appearance 29.10.1984 • Nov 1984 - End of the Road Promotion • 25 November 1984 - recording Do they Know its Christmas. Looks like Bernie in the background along with Iain Jones? • Speculative early 1985 - performance of Rock N Roll • Early 1985??? - Presumably Francis and Bernie record their solo album • April to June 1985 - Francis and Bernie promo their Album (April 1985 on Wogan) June 1985 7th July 1985 - Francis Rossi guests with Dire Straits at Wembley Arena 9th July 1985 parfitt, Lancaster, coghlan live at the Marquee 13th July 1985 Live Aid • Live Aid Interview, Rick gets funny again! • September 1985 - February 1986 Recording ITAN album • September 1985 - Rossi and Parfit embark on a short “evening with” tour at small bars and venues (link to a contract below) statusquo.boards.net/thread/12237/evening-francis-rossi-rick-parfittOctober 26th 1985 - Rossi parfitt and Bernie all appear on an Audience with Billy Connolly at 2m27 February 1986 - Judge rules in favour of F and R (Presumably Alan entered his court case after Live Aid? But they had already begun work on the ITAN Album) • 11th April 1986 - New look Quo on the road in Abu Dhabi playing warm up shows and filming Rollin Home • 15th May 1986 New look quo on Top of the Pops with Rollin Home • spring 1987 Alan sells his rights to Quo to Rossi and Parfitt

Rossi probably started recording Flying Debris late 84, or maybe even mid '84, after the EOTR tour.
Rick was already working on / writing for his around June 84 with Francis making a dig about it during an interview on Scottish TV prior to a Glasgow show. He recorded it in the same studio as the Army album was recorded, and I know Pip was working on the mixing right up until Quo entered the studio to make a start on the Army album with Naughty Girl and RnR Floorboards being the first tracks done

This is a really interesting thing to do - it would be great to understand (as best we can) what was going on at this time and how events unfolded. The original list is a great start and i know that Luke knows stuff about when various demos were recorded.
A plea - could we please avoid mindless criticism of those in the band involved and just get a timeline together (highlighting areas of dispute if necessary).
Best topic area in a long while!

Edit - Gas light demos Anyone have a date for the gas light studios demos? The cover artwork of the bootleg suggests 1984/85. I would guess 84 when Alan was in the UK either recording the wanderer Or the video for the wanderer
edit - Have added inks for queen and dire straits guest appearances
Edit - added link for an audience with Billy Connolly

Edit - Gas light demos Anyone have a date for the gas light studios demos? The cover artwork of the bootleg suggests 1984/85. I would guess 84 when Alan was in the UK either recording the wanderer Or the video for the wanderer edit - Have added inks for queen and dire straits guest appearances Edit - added link for an audience with Billy Connolly September 1984 - Studio somewhere in Woldingham Surrey recording a couple of songs along with doing overdubs for the Milton Keynes recording. October 1984 - TV appearances, as well as recording the video promo for The Wanderer in London. (no exact date for the filming) I'm assuming Alan went back to Oz after the late October appearance on TopPop for The Wanderer February 1985 - Rick and Francis make an appearance at the Dutch Fan Club convention, possibly the same time they had appearances on Dutch TV for The Wanderer and Rock N' Roll. Summer Period 1985 - Alan will have come back for the upcoming Live Aid appearance, and I'm assuming this will have been around the time that he went into the Gaslight Studios to record some tracks / demos. Post Live Aid;- Alan goes back to Australia, and between now and September is when the Record Company will have been chasing Quo down for the albums they owe after the crowd / general reaction of their Live Aid "reunion". August 1985 (? / Possibly) Francis heads down to Chipping Norton Studios, were the gear was already set up, to jam with Jeff and Rhino... then further studio time is booked to record the next album. September / October 1985 (? / Possibly) Alan starts to find out about recording time being booked via various sources, with management and phonogram denying this to him. Lawsuit ensues to stop what was supposed to be Quos comeback single, "Naughty Girl". Also, let's not forget about the faxes between '84 / '85
1. After MK84 Alan was not happy with Quarry. Alan received not enough income. 2. Colin said that Phonogram was responsible for it and proposed an audit, to research if they were paying enough royalties. He even proposed a worse deal with Andy and Pete, a fix amount £15,000 for each record and no longer a percentage. Alan wanted to get off from the Phonogram deal and Quarry. They were the bad guys. 3. Francis and Rick didn't want to come over to Australia to record another album Alan did not even wanted to come over to the UK to record another album. 4. Despite the business part their were also personal differences in the relationship between Francis and Alan. But that could be overwhelmed. They were still friends. 5. The In the Army recordings started on 16.09.1985 6. Phonogram denied it to Alan but Alan knew that studio time was booked. He knew it from several sources. 7. In the end, the relationship between Quarry and Alan was very aggressive. They were no longer on speaking terms. They were upset that Alan knew too much about financial issues.
