Surely been done before, but following on from cammythemortonfan's thread, reckon we all like ticking boxes, so pick your Top 3 Alan (or up to 3):

Where's All The Reasons, Lonely Man & Name Of The Game? & if Lonely Night's on the list, shouldn't Roll Over Lay Down & Break The Rules also qualify?

Never knew he wrote softer ride, just assumed it was rossi young I'm sure I've read Francis saying it was a Rossi/Young tune, but that has appeared credited to Parfitt/Lancaster, for reasons.

Where's All The Reasons, Lonely Man & Name Of The Game? & if Lonely Night's on the list, shouldn't Roll Over Lay Down & Break The Rules also qualify? Yeah i know, took a bit of a librerty not including those - with the first 3, they're more like ownership of the singer in those cases (ATR/LM say more of Rick i feel) even though Alan had a hand in them.
Yes ROLD & BTR should be in there if LN is - did Alan not sing a bit of LN at the Shepperton FF reunion rehearsal? (could be wrong) - so that's why i put that one in. The association of the other 2 with Alan seem more tenuous.
But yeah i agree, for completeness sake, all of them should be in there!

I think all credits from the 70's should be taken with a pinch of salt. Alan was involved in alot of tracks he wasn't credited for while he probably wasn't very much involved in others that he actually was credited for. Anyway, I'll go for Backwater.

Backwater cannot be denied, although partly because it's become a classic live song, the storyline just goes so well live. I had to toss a coin a bit for the other two. Umleitung is a definite. Then I chose Is There A Better Way as it was a great song just when I needed it.

Very difficult to limit it to 3. I chose Umleitung, Just Take Me and Don’t Think It Matters but could have equally chosen A Year, Backwater, Daughter, Is it Really Me, Something Going On In My Head, Over The Edge!
