For some reason, the BBC Sounds App showed up that the Boss was on Desert Island Discs, a Radio 4 programme that I grew up with. I thought this was about to happen but it was originally aired in 2016. For those who don't know the show, its a "tell your life story, and could you survive if castaway on a desert island? They never specified what type of island but most people went for a tropical one. Part of that was to choose your 8 fav tracks to keep you sane or happy. Growing up, this was the station my parents listen to and rarely was there any music or people of interest for me. Popular music was only for Radio 1. I can remember fantasising that if I ever got on that show, I would only play 8 Quo tracks Probably would have a different 8 now. For anyone interested, here's the ep with The Boss via youtube.

I don't think Francis was ever on Desert Island Discs but I do recall him on a similar radio programme, presumably on Radio 1 because I never listened to commercial radio. I think he chose his top ten songs, so the format was quite similar. I cannot recall when it was though. Could be the late 70's or early 80's at a guess. And the only two songs I remember him choosing were Watching The River Flow by Bob Dylan and Miss You Nights by Cliff Richard. I dare say there was an Everly Brothers or an ELO song in there. curiousgirl, your post brought back memories of something I had completely forgotten about

I have it somewhere on a cassette but I've mislaid them all. I remember him talking about Hotel California, so yep, the Eagles were on too. And now its come back to me - Dave Edmunds' and Girl Talk. Francis preferred his version to Elvis Costello's. And I remember that because of the odd way Francis' pronounced Costello, stretching out the vowels e and the last o. Typical of Francis to do that too. More happy memories Mortified. I can't imagine that Francis would ever be asked onto Desert Island Discs though. I can't imagine Radio 4 has many Quo fans amongst it. Though I know a lot of Springsteen fans in my age group who still listen.

That probably puts the radio prog in the early 80's because the Dave Edmunds song was from 1979. I can remember that but I can't remember what I had for dinner last night. A sign of things to come

A sign of things to come My little grey cells are whirring. Wasn't it My Top 12 with Tommy Vance? And it was in the early 80s. 81 or 82 is my guess.

But I think you're on the right lines. For some strange reason, I can remember WHERE I listened to it. It was in my bedroom at home when I lived with my mum and dad. I beggared off in 1982 to go get married (a persistent habit I picked up over the decades ) so we're looking between '79 and '82. That's that then. Eat yer heart out, Sherlock Maybe we should just have Googled it. But where's the fun in that?

The "My Top 12" 7/01/76 Francis Rossi & Rick Parfitt with Brian Matthew is the best Quo radio interview I ever heard.
I can remember a few of the choices
I Saw The Light: Todd Rundgren Home On The Range: Gene Autry Watch The River Flow: Bob Dylan
