The problem I’m Scotland is that you go from venues holding 2-3000 then you hit the arenas with 10,000 plus. What we need somewhere is a venue that holds 5-6000. That’s why Quo have used the Hydro many times.....they can’t anywhere near sell it out but if they pull in eg 5000, then its the only venue in the Glasgow area which can accommodate that size of crowd .👍 That's true enough. It tends to jump from nice theatres holding maybe a couple of thousand to airport hangars. The Playhouse in Edinburgh holds about 4,000 I believe but they stopped hosting gigs years ago in favour of musical shows; a la The Lion King or Cats or whatever. Or are they same thing? Just bigger cats Went to a nice theatre in Edinburgh on the Heavy Traffic tour. Can’t remember it’s name. Was a good tour that.

It's been completely renovated since and Quo (and other bands) are not allowed in Quo last played there in 2006. It's generally used now for the classical stuff, particularly during the Festival. I haven't been in it since Quo played there but I'm told it's rather plush. It only actually holds about 1,800 I think. When it's all seated anyway. They took the seats out of the stalls in 2006 and it made a huge difference to the atmosphere. The place was rammed.

Francis hadn’t been well but when I left home in the afternoon at that point the gig still hadn’t been cancelled. You can guess the rest!!! I had row A too !!! Never mind 😂 We had tickets for that as well but we lived in North Wales at the time. We didn't set off because we had an inkling it was going to be cancelled. I can't remember why we thought that though Maybe it was a premonition

It was very posh but it’s advantage was that taking the seats out of the stalls made a big difference. Enjoyable gigs there

I suspect that they already have a tour booked for Nov/Dec 2021 . And eg although some of the cities may be the same, it could be different ventures within those cities For example, I suspect given how quickly Glasgow Concent Hall sold, that they will be back in the Hydro . Although they wouldn’t anywhere near fill the Hydro, they’d probably draw 4-5000 which is double what the concert hall holds The Hydro is a cavern of a venue. Like most arenas, it lacks atmosphere if it's only half full. But I guess that's an irrelevance if the money is better than playing a smaller hall. They'll need a new marketing strategy though. Touring the Backbone album 2 years after the event (or maybe even longer) might lack some impetus, shall we say How about Aquostic Backbone End Of The Electric Road Tour..again.

I had tickets to see Joe Bonamassa at the Edinburgh Playhouse in April, obviously it was cancelled. So they do still do the odd gig here and there, just that for the most part it is booked out for musicals. So I'd imagine when booking a tour, it will be unlikely a date is available there that fits nicely with the rest of the itinerary.

The decision to not properly tour Backbone in 2019 has proven to be a really bad one. I'm even more glad now I got to see them at Ludwigsburg, even if they just played two new songs.
