“It is with great reluctance that we are forced to announce the cancellation of the forty date UK and European tour that was planned for October, November and December 2020 in support of the ‘Backbone’ album release. This is in line with public health requirements and advice relating to Covid-19. Due to various commitments for next year, the band are unable to reschedule these shows for 2021. This cancellation is not what the band wanted, but they are very mindful of the wellbeing of band, audience and crew. Despite the fact that many shows have already sold out, an outright cancellation will allow our valued fans to receive a refund on tickets purchased. Quo is a band largely defined by their live performances and we cannot wait for the next time that we can perform safely, securely – and loudly!” Status Quo

Yeah, I've just this minute received an e-mail from Sage Gateshead saying that I will get a full refund because the gig is not being rescheduled. Oh well, booked a few so some unexpected dosh coming my way. Always the mercenary

Oh well, booked a few so some unexpected dosh coming my way. Always the mercenary I hope you get it all back. I booked a gig at the Sage through Seetickets. They kept £9 from a bill of £114. So I assume that was their booking fees. Bastards.

Just a question but what else could they have scheduled ? Gigs are their main earner. Harsher on the two younger members.

Yeah, they asked me to submit a refund form (which I did) but gave me the option of donating the cost of my ticket to their theatre 'fund' as a gesture of good will. I declined

And eg although some of the cities may be the same, it could be different ventures within those cities For example, I suspect given how quickly Glasgow Concent Hall sold, that they will be back in the Hydro . Although they wouldn’t anywhere near fill the Hydro, they’d probably draw 4-5000 which is double what the concert hall holds

Not questioning what you posted just hoping for those who want to go will get the opportunity.

Like most arenas, it lacks atmosphere if it's only half full. But I guess that's an irrelevance if the money is better than playing a smaller hall. They'll need a new marketing strategy though. Touring the Backbone album 2 years after the event (or maybe even longer) might lack some impetus, shall we say

Maybe a new album or at least a smaller collection of songs. As they will have the best part of a year to write and recording has gone back to days or weeks unlike the 80s/90s.

No worries.....Birmingham initially posted it would take place next year but that has been cancelled now too

What we need somewhere is a venue that holds 5-6000. That’s why Quo have used the Hydro many times.....they can’t anywhere near sell it out but if they pull in eg 5000, then its the only venue in the Glasgow area which can accommodate that size of crowd .👍

Just got an email from AXS this morning just saying all three months had been cancelled and refunds would be issued automatically to the original payment path, etc. (They of course didn't say if they would be hanging on to their booking fees ... ) It's a bit of a relief in a way as we won't have to scratch our heads thinking, are we OK to go, or should we not? I quite like the idea on the news from somewhere of having a festival with everyone in little cattle pens. It wouldn't work for Glastonbury, you'd have to have trained Mongol horse herders managing the crowds with lassoos, to keep it trendy enough.

It tends to jump from nice theatres holding maybe a couple of thousand to airport hangars. The Playhouse in Edinburgh holds about 4,000 I believe but they stopped hosting gigs years ago in favour of musical shows; a la The Lion King or Cats or whatever. Or are they same thing? Just bigger cats

Just bigger cats Around 10 years ago or so they were due at the Playhouse for the first time since the 80’s I think. Francis hadn’t been well but when I left home in the afternoon at that point the gig still hadn’t been cancelled. You can guess the rest!!! I had row A too !!! Never mind 😂
