It’s sold by the bucket load and received lifetimes of airplay on the radio.
Haven’t played it in ages and so today on my walk I thought I’d have a listen.
It still sounds great. The production is excellent.
The songs are nearly all very good to excellent.
Angus playing often underrated is at times top drawer.
If most of these tracks don’t make you tap your foot, you may well be deaf. I prefer other albums but there’s no question this album was made to be a radio friendly classic and that’s how it turned out.
It’s a 8/10 for me. Oddly not even in my top 5 favourite albums of that pivotal year for rock music.

Stone Cold Classic. I return to it again and again. I prefer Bon era DC but you can't deny the early Brian Johnson albums are rock royalty too.

Funnily enough, though I prefer Bon era DC myself, my favourite 80s DC album is 'Flick of the Switch' from 1983. Full of crunching riffs and rock solid drumming from Phil Rudd. Guns for Hire in particular is fantastic. Their last great album.

I love Flick of the Switch as it was my first DC album. Under the radar really but special to me. Tracked it down on original vinyl about two years ago (for more than I paid originally! and more than its worth!) I'm older but no wiser. As you say, their last great album, although I do have a soft spot for blow up your video too.

Never like Brian's voice but the music is top notch.

For me, it is one of the best Rock albums ever made. Every track is top draw. It is also one of the most bought albums of all time. I also saw them on the Black in Black tour. Quite simply a brilliant band!

40 years. Where did that go? When it first came out, I really didn't know what to expect. I had an old Geordie single (still do) called Don't Do That so I was aware of what his voice was like and I thought it an odd choice. But history proves it to have been the right one. I liked Back In Black. Not as much as the albums between High Voltage and Highway To Hell but enough to get me to buy For Those About To Rock and Flick Of The Switch. But I was disappointed with both of those and never really went back to the band. Last time I saw them live was in 1982. The biggest selling album of the 80's I believe. Read that somewhere. Cracking America helps with that of course
